England. Winter 1155. Cathryn and Greneforde are one; to possess one is to possess the other. William, a knight under King Henry, has been gifted Greneforde as a reward for service to the king. Greneforde, and Cathryn, are now his. They marry within the hour of his arrival, Cathryn outwardly obedient to the combined wills of God, King, and husband. But is she so? William thinks not. He begins to believe that some treachery is brewing in his beautiful wife's heart, that she plans to resist consummating their marriage, thereby nullifying it and denying him Greneforde, the home he has fought for through long years and across continents. He is determined that she will deny him nothing; not her land, and not her body.

Editorial Reviews

http://mrsgiggles.com/ - Mrs. Giggles
The Holding is a marvelous and fascinating read. It doesn't even hesitate to hide the rougher, coarser side of medieval marriage, and that way, it only makes the characters' eventual falling in love all the more satisfying.

    Awesome real life Lessons!!!!

I usually read only Christian titles, but this book was too good to pass up. It is so real. It has a touch of Christianity, yet is tastefully erotic. I believe it is a great way for women in the same situation to learn to heal themselves. It might be labeled a Romance Novel, but it is also a learning tool for wifes and husbands. I am going to purchase all of the authors titles!!

Well though out story.  Different then the usual formula romances.  This is the second Claudia Dain book I've read .   She does not have the H and  H falling over each other 5 minutes after they meet.   She makes them earn love and overcome serious issues to get there.  I know that's vague but I'm trying not to add spoilers.  Anyway very well written.  Not a typical arranged bride story.  I will say you have to really feel for the heroine.  She is a survivor but it ain't easy.
