“1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.

1:3 God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 1:4 God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. 1:5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” There was evening and there was morning, one day.

1:6 God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 1:7 God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. 1:8 God called the expanse “sky.” There was evening and there was morning, a second day.”

-- Genesis 1:1 to 1:8

    Quality is as advertised

It's good! Very easy to read and to navigate. Jumping to a chapter in the nook features takes you to, obviously, the beginning of that chapter, and from there you can use the arrow keys to select book or chapter. It's quite user friendly, especially given the price, and I'm very pleased with the product.

    I Also Recommend:

Does & Has What It Says

I also bought the "American Standard Version" MobileReference which I find is the better translation, but this "Modern English Translation" MobileReference is much easier to get to what you are wanting. Go to CHAPTER Psalms, then to FIND and put in 23:4 and it finds it for you. I could not do this in the "American Standard". Also this "Modern Version" has the Deuterocanonical Books which I have not found in any of the other eBibles (including the NRSV Standard Bible w/ Apoc:- discovered too late that this is New Testament only and none of the Apoc or Deutero books - it does have a Concordance as noted but not easily managed). This "Modern English Translation" also shows the chapter as well as verse (eg 23:2) - not found in any of the other eBibles that I looked into. It would be nice to have a manageable Concordance with this.

    A good version..

One of the better versions for quick loading, good navigation, and beautiful illustrations. I have tried samples of many different versions, and this one is the best so far. However, I would prefer the NIV in this same format. Of all the versions that I have tried, this is the only one that has the chapters divided, with a table of contents after each ten chapters, for an easy return to the beginning. The others do not have this feature.

    WONDERFUL! :)

Absolutely wonderful! Only problem is not all Deuterocaniconiacal (is that how it's spelled?) books are in this version, but I'm glad it has 5 of them in there. Overall, great.

    WEB

I purchased this Bible for use on my nook. The World English Bible is a new translation for me. While I haven't read the entire book and compared it with other translations, it does appear to be a good translation and not a paraphrase from what I have read.

The navigation is much better than the two other versions I have purchased in e-book format. (one KJV and one NASB). It is not perfect, but certainly better that the others I have. Using both the content page scroll or "go-to chapter" feature along with the page scroll makes finding specific verses easier. I also use the bookmark feature on my nook to help with navigation.

It is also being sold at an amazingly low price.
