    Not enough horror

These are not good collections. They have some interesting things in them but the editors seem to have made a list of good horror stories and then included everything the authors ever wrote. Ambrose Bierce , for example, wrote some very good stories but was not primarily a horror writer; of the 800 pages of his work included here, maybe 100 belong. Volumes 3-4 include Sabine Baring-Gould, who was a folklorist and minister; I suppose you could consider his collected sermons as horror, but I certainly wouldn't have included them. All in all, you can find almost everything here in a better collection.
