    decent short story

2.5 - 3 stars, this was a cute little story, although I'm not totally on board with the whole 'spirit animal' thing, at least it was original. My main issue with short stories (including this one) is they go along fine until about halfway through when the main character does a 180. For example, when Elysia finally shows Darien what's in her backpack, we were reading from his perspective at the time and therefor had no idea why all of a sudden she showed him when up until that point she was steadfast against it. Anyway this was only about 60 pages (and free on my Nook) so it was a nice light read before bed when I had some extra time to kill.

This short story is a prequel to “Eyes of Crow” and is set after the modern world collapse. The story, characters, and action are interesting, and the ending was satisfying. I liked it and I think it makes a great free opening to a series.

    Needed development

The story needed to be developed much more to be good. Often I think that an author gets rushed, even by themselves, and doesn't develop their story enough for a reader.

Great story about a post-apocalyptic world. It's a bit of a teaser, I can't wait to read more.

A very nice short story. I was a little disappointed that it was a short story and not a full length novel.
