Overview

This is the FIRST book in the Joe Tyler series.

If someone took your child, how soon would you stop looking for her? If someone accused your best friend of a terrible crime, when would you stop defending him?

Seven years after Joe Tyler’s daughter Elizabeth was abducted, he hasn’t stopped looking for answers, and he hasn’t forgotten the friend who stood by him as he lost his wife, his home, and his career in his search. Now he’s been brought back to San Diego by the news that this friend has been arrested for beating up a teenage girl—a girl not much older than Elizabeth would be now.
Joe is convinced Chuck Winslow is innocent, but Chuck is in a coma and can’t explain what happened. And the more Joe hears about what Chuck’s been up to in the years he’s been gone, the less Joe recognizes his old friend. To find out the truth, he will have to face his ex-wife, his former bosses, and a hometown full of wealth, lies, and illicit privilege. When Chuck’s accuser goes missing, Joe must decide where his loyalties truly lie.

Jeff Shelby is the best-selling author of The Noah Braddock series (Killer Swell, Wicked Break and Liquid Smoke) and has been compared by reviewers to Harlan Coben and Robert Crais. In Thread of Hope, he delivers a gut-wrenching tale of painful secrets and even more devastating truths as well as an exploration of how a single thread of hope can keep one man going.

The story is very good and well written. I found some of the language could have been less offensive. Why authors feel they must use vulgar words to be considered good is beyond me. I will read the series and try to skip the four letter words

This is a free book, it is the first in a series, has 280 pages and is very good. There are a few efiting problems, one if which made a very funny sentence. The book is first person, which I hate and a partial cliff hanger, which I also hate. This book deals wirh child abuse, prostitution, kidnapping, an extremly mild sexual encounter, beat em ups, bullies and very minor cursing. Book two costs $4.99. It is the best book I have read in 2015. I am going to recomend it highly. I would have given it five stars if not for the cliff hanger and first person. It is for ages 18 and up. Not chick lit. Just a very good, kidnap, beat em up, mystery. No religion or gore. Both sexexs will enjoy this excellant book. I am going to srchive this one. AD

It's a hook - to be continued for three books. Didn't end - have to buy three more books to find out what happened to Elizabeth.

I received this book free in bookbub and read it in one day. Within the next few days, I bought and read the rest in the series.   All were very good- great storyline and great mystery!

This first book in the mystery series is a great start to what is an amazing story. It is so good to read mysteries that don't have arrogant and what i call hip and happening characters glorified all the way through the story. The grit and uncompromising attributes of the main characters is a very welcome forefront to the story. Real people in realistic lifestyles with realistic problems and triumphs. This series is a story that the average schmuck like me can relate to. The mystery aspect of the story keeps you guessing and the plot twists and surprises are not contrived or there just for rh sake of plot twists. In other words, the story and all of its details are cinvucing, believable and leave you wanting more. I am very happy to have run across this gem of a mystery series and this author. It's about time we had some authors that are talented and sensible enough to write something besides trash like the 50 Shades of Gray series and others like it. I recommend the Tyler mystery series to anyone that is hungry for something out of the ordinary, yet, surprisingly down to Earth.

This was the first book i have read by Jeff Shelby. I Really enjoyed reading this book. I purchased all of the books in the series. Waiting for # 6 to come out. A few typo's that did not bother me. Most of the books were less than 200 pages, so made it a fast read. If you like mystery with A family twist you wll love this book. First book was free the others were $4.99. Well worth the money. Highly recormend!

Being unable to purchase as many books as I would like, I browse the free books often. I found this book and thought "sure". I am glad I did. It was great! The writing and flow of the story was perfect. I like books that keep me on edge and this one did. It tugged my heart strings, brought rage and despair, and even made me chuckle. The only thing is, now I'm dying to get the rest! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!

This was my first read by this author. I found it very intriguing, and will most likely order the remainder at some point. The total cost of all of the books is less than buying a paperback anymore, so given that, I will finish the series I came to be enamored with from the first book.
