Overview

The doctors assure Erin Bennett and her parents that they can't find a physical cause for her headaches. But the throbbing, violent pain is so intense that Erin knows she needs help. Even landing the lead in the senior musical opposite David Devlin, the good-looking, popular guy everyone else is wild about, doesn't give Erin much pleasure. In fact, she finds David so annoying that her headaches are getting worse.

Erin knows that the headaches started just after the death of her younger sister, Amy, one year ago. She though her grieving was over, but somehow the headaches must be connected to Amy. The therapist Erin starts seeing begins to help her deal with her pain, but what is it about David that triggers Erin's violent reaction?

This book is a sequel to Somewhere Between Life and Death where Erin's sister dies in a car accident and lies in a coma until she's pronounced brain dead. Erin is starting to get killer head-aches and her therapist thinks it's because of her loss of Amy. Erin slowly get's over her sister and headaches after meeting a boy who helps her end her mission to find closure. Beautifully written and a wonderful sequel!

Mixed up! Lurlene McDaniel is an amazing writer She writes books about teenagers facing lifealtering situations Many of her novels are quite inspirational These books are hardhitting and very realistic The book I am reviewing is called Time to Let Go The story is based around Erin. She is a senior in high school, and has had to go through many tough trials in the past year Near the end though, somehow she finds a way to pull through the tough times, with the help of family and close friends The story is based in Tampa Florida and it goes through the fall and part of the wintertime The main character is Erin She is going through a rough time with her family because they recently lost a member of their family-her sister Amy The book is basically showing all she has to go through to accept Amy's unexpected death, and who helps her through it the most The climax would have to be when Erin goes through a trunk full of her sister's things that bring back so many memories her reaction is quite contrary to what you would expect First, there are her parents; they bicker all the time and are trying to cope with their loss, however in the process, they're losing the only daughter they have left. There's Beth She isn't a close friend to Amy but they spend a lot of time together near the end of the book Erin helped Beth when she needed her and vice-versa. While in their family session with the therapist, Mr. Bennett said "'I've found work to be therapeutic I keep occupied.' 'He retreats', Mrs. Bennett said, 'There's a difference' He glared at her, as if she's exposed him in some way"(McDaniel 145) Next is Erin's therapist. Her parents had her see a therapist because Erin gets unexplained headaches daily, that make her bed-ridden for periods of time Her therapist is trying to find out why this is happening, because there isn't a medical diagnosis. Her diagnosis was"'Erin's been trying to help both of you, to distract you from your pain. She's carried on, tried to take up the slack and act as a buffer, and yet still plan for a future. The headaches are a reflection of the terrible strain she's under Its tough being the glue that holds everybody together'"(McDaniel 148)Next would be David Devlin a hilarious dancer He actually becomes Erin's strongest support system and they grow very close over time When David approaches Erin its noticeable how much he means to he"He smiles, and she felt as if the sun had just slashed over her. I'll be your best friend' He took her hand and led her over to a grassy spot, away from the bustling activity There he stood facing her still holding her hand"(McDaniel 158)Lastly is Erin; she is a very uptight teenager She loves to dance but is held back from going to a college for dancing because of her massive headaches that overcome her When she was warming up for dance rehearsal this is what happened"She adjusted her leg warmers and did several arabesques in the center stage"(McDaniel 38) I think that the theme of this book is to have faith in yourself, because life throws you hard balls, but you learn how to cope with them. Just as Erin eventually coped with Amy's death, everyone can heal after a bad experience. Overall, time really does heal all wounds I enjoyed this book very much. It gives a great message and is realistic while leaving a sense of inspiration and hope for the reader It is a quick read book so it doesn't require a lot of time and it keeps the reader engrossed in whatever is happening in the

This book is a must read! Anyone who has lost someone close to them can relate to this book. Mc Daniel really gets readers hooked on her books. I recommend that when you plan on reading this you keep a box of tissues at hand, you may even want to read it alone. By the end of the book you share feelings with the characters as if you are walking in their steps.

This was a really touching and very sweet book. I recomended it to one person and I quote "it sounds like a great book, but I hate to read. This is one of lurlene mcdaniels best books. It's about erin and how she gets these really bad headaches and she see a psychrist and she takes her to this group and this one boy he eats twinkies because before his father died they got up late and did that and erin hopes to go to dancing school and this guy reminds her of her dead sister amy. She blamed herself for the death. She should have went, she should. So in the end it's wonderful.

When I read this book it made me realize what happens when someone close to you dies. Not only that but it showed me the results of holding things on the inside. Being stubborn and not getting help won't do you any good. It helped show me that nothing will go away if you ignore it. It will come right back at you worse than it was before.
