Overview

A parable for modern times.

They never asked to be chosen. They didn't want the weight of the world on their shoulders. But God had selected them for a mission only the three of them could carry out.

A grieving father with a superficial and materialistic lifestyle, a lovely witch, and a gay college boy are united by newfound supernatural powers and an ever-morphing spiritual guide to battle a demonic invasion from another world and Earth's own past. A motley group of friends and even the ghosts of loved ones join these outcasts, chosen to be God's Hammer, as they fight in city streets and farmyards to save mankind and each other.

Love, sex, violence, spirituality, mystery, suspense, magic, and humor combine in an adventure that provides a glimpse at the hardest and sweetest human truths.

This contemporary fantasy will appeal to fans of every genre of speculative fiction. The surprising bonus is that the thrilling action on every page is a reminder that even a freak like you is loved without limit. Ask yourself what you would do if you were chosen to better humanity . . . because you were.

I tried...I really did...I picked it up...I read it...I put it down ...I picked it up ...I read it ...I put it down. I tried to look for some sort of redemption in the juvenile plotting and adolescent fantasy-world but in the end I just put it down. I am not a writer and so I admire anyone who can start, plot and finish a novel but this is just not a book that I could read or reccomend.

    What a Journey

When I read on the jacket "a grieving father, a witch, and a gay college boy' it sounded a little like the start of a joke, but as I read further I discovered a wonderful and touching story of love, brotherhood, and family. It is a difficult book to describe to others. The story takes place on Earth as well as a planet across the universe and one character is a child on page 10 and an old woman on page 50, but it all fits together, is understandable and a wonderful journey the author takes the reader. The mountain of research on a multitude of religions, cultures, and ceremonies, all wove its way through the pages in a delightful way. I enjoyed the book thoroughly and going recommend it to my friends. I read exclusively gay fiction and this is the first book that held my interest where the majority of the characters were heterosexual. I loved your all your characters, especially Honey who made me laugh out loud and reminded me of friends no longer in my life. I want to thank the author for such an incredible story, will keep an eye peeled for the next one. There will be a next one?

    Unique, Compelling Read!!

I loved this book! Michael writes with such vivid details that you feel as though you are part of the story. Roman, Blair and Darby are chosen to be God's warriors to help fight a battle for Earth's survival. If you enjoy suspense, love, sex, mystery, humor, have an open mind and can think outside the box, this book is for you! The family bond that is formed from such three uniquely different people, with such diverse backgrounds makes you realize that anything in this world is possible!

One of my fastest reads ever!!

I loved this book!! I finished it in less than two weeks which is a record for me. Very engaging from the first page and you will completely become immersed in the lives of these characters and by the end of the book you will feel like you have just completed this journey with them. This book gets you thinking about the bigger things in life and chances are if you take the time to read it you might discover some amazing things about yourself and the world around you. Living in Kansas City myself it was an added bonus to have part of the book set here and watch the adventures unfold. This is WAY beyond a sci-fi novel, it's got something for everyone - action, Christianity elements, magic, and good old fashioned romance of all kinds. Buy this book...May you find it as hard to put down as I did.

Changed How I View Myself and the World

I am well read, and this book is my new favorite. It has everything I like, but rarely find combined in one novel, so even 420-something pages weren¿t enough. At the beginning, the stories of the three main characters are being told separately. Each one is interesting, and things really take off when they meet. I didn¿t know how I would feel about the mix of themes¿Christian/pagan, gay/straight, action/romance/fantasy¿but it works. Some people will have a hard time seeing past the controversial aspects, but I found myself liking the characters too much to be distracted by that stuff. It¿s thought-provoking and by the end, I loved these people and felt like part of their crazy family. Despite all of the shockers, the moral came shining through¿God loves everybody. This was the first time I ever reread a book because of the way it made me feel about myself.
