TERRIFIED...

It was supposed to be a harmless camping trip. Six wayward teenagers who'd run into trouble with the law, and their court-appointed guardians, Sara and Martin Randhurst. Three nights on a small, deserted island off of Michigan's upper peninsula. A time to bond, to learn, to heal.

Then Martin told a campfire story about the island's history. Of the old civil war prison hidden in there, and the starving confederate soldiers who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Everyone thought it was funny. They even laughed when Martin pretended to be dragged off into the woods.

But Martin didn't come back. And neither did Sara when she went in search of him.

Then the laughter stopped.

...TO DEATH

The group soon began to realize that this deserted island wasn't so deserted after all. And perhaps Martin's ridiculous story had more truth to it than anyone thought.

What's the most horrifying thing you can imagine?

This is a hundred times worse...

I had a hard time putting this book down. I even cheated and peeked at the end, it was that good! Filled with everything I like, gore, suspense, mystery, shock value (Martin-didn't see that one coming) I would highly recommend it if you're into horror because it's an awesome read. Next I'm going to read Endurance then I'm going to come back and read the uncut version of Trapped.

Awesome read! A non-stop roller coaster ride of shock and gore, I loved this book! I think it's really great that the author included both the original and re-done versions (I preferred the re-done one). Will be picking up Endurance next and looking for more by this author.

This was one SERIOUSLY twisted book. Just when you think the remaining characters are in the clear.. they're so totally not even close. I read this in 2 days, nonstop; it was THAT good. Twists, turns, and extreme violent torture till the very end. Even the most jaded gore fans will be completely enthralled. The Silence of the Lambs is my favorite movie, and these psychos make Hannibal Lecter and Buffalo Bill look like Mary freaking Poppins, no lie. I highly reccomend this book and can't wait to read this author's next book "Endurance" :D Ps: the ending is SO PERFECT!!

This book is gory, freaky, disturbing, and actually made me shudder more than once. I loved it!

I have a huge fan of Mr. Kilborn's books; while I enjoyed this book, is nowhere near as good as Endurance which is still my favorite. This is a very quick read because you really don't want to put it down. If you are a fan of camping, I would recommend that you would be cautious before you pick this one up as you will never really quite look at camping the same.

Could not put this book down. Loved every second of it. Lots of characters but easy to follow. Have since read two more of his books and can't get enough.

Loved this book! Canabalism...mad doctors...psychotic criminals? Had you wondering if anyone could or would make it out alive. Loved it!

I read the rewrite and I am glad I did. The violence was pretty intense throughout most of the novel. I liked certain aspects of this novel, but I guessed most of the plot within the first chapters of the book. I had some issues with the rewrite which I am not going to get into. I do want to state that I believe this writer has some talent, and I do believe that he may very well yield some excellent stories on down the road.

I bought the book because of the Michigan setting. Way more gory than I usually read, but good story line. (I also read Afraid, which has same characters). I liked that the author provides his initial version of the book before editing. I also plan to read it because I'm curious to see the changes that were made. But I had to switch to reading something happy and sappy in between to break the intensity.

Creepy and gory, but oh so fake. Under the author name of J. A. Konrath, all his books are so very good except for Shaken...the last in that series. I read AFRAID in this series...it was weird, but not this strange. This book got so much ramp and rave I thought it would be better. Too gory and far too fake for me. Cannibals...come on...eating kids...REALLY?!*

Kept me wanting to read, on the edge of my seat all the time and what a twist near the end....wow.

I read the re-written version which is included with the ebook. Yes, it is gory, and at times graphic. Quite a few times I thought, 'eeww' but this book was exactly what I was hoping for in a psychological, suspenseful thriller! If you can handle some violence mixed with some blood and guts descriptions, give this book a read. Characters were well defined and developed. Plot was a bit out there but not enough to deter me from reading. Finished this in 2 days because I did not want to put it down!

I read this immediately after completing Afraid by the same author. While I thought Afraid was fantastic, this one just didn't quite work as well for me. It was certainly thrilling. And the author gets high marks for some great plot twists that I never anticipated. But frankly, I thought it was a bit longer than necessary. Although there's no particular scene I would point to as fluff, I did feel that some of the scares were losing their edge due to being drawn out. Had the book been 20-30% shorter, I would have given it a higher rating. (Note: The e-book contains both the original version and the updated version. I read the updated version.)

WOW. This book was...amazing. It has one of the biggest plot twists in any of the other books. I was thrilled by the content, gore, story line. I also enjoyed the very little romance it contained. (not a romance fan) It was a bit far fetched with some of the deaths, but I can't complain. I'm a sucker for blood and guts. :)

Detailed, bloody, and exciting. Not my favorite of his stories but definitely exciting. Never let's me down. I'm always guaranteed a bloody adventure.

if you're a thriller type reader...and don't mind some gore mixed in...this one will keep you up wanting to read on to the next chapter..fast paced and action filled was the theme of the book...i did enjoy the warped sense of story writing...love stories are not for me!! =) worth the read for sure!!
