TURNED is book #1 in the #1 Bestselling series THE VAMPIRE JOURNALS, which includes twelve books.

In TURNED (Book #1 of the Vampire Journals), 18 year old Caitlin Paine finds herself uprooted from her nice suburb and forced to attend a dangerous New York City high school when her Mom moves again. The one ray of light in her new surroundings is Jonah, a new classmate who takes an instant liking to her.

But before their romance can blossom, Caitlin suddenly finds herself changing. She is overcome by a superhuman strength, a sensitivity to light, a desire to feed--by feelings she does not understand. She seeks answers to what's happening to her, and her cravings lead her to the wrong place at the wrong time. Her eyes are opened to a hidden world, right beneath her feet, thriving underground in New York City. She finds herself caught between two dangerous covens, right in the middle of a vampire war.

It is at this moment that Caitlin meets Caleb, a mysterious and powerful vampire who rescues her from the dark forces. He needs her to help lead him to the legendary lost artifact. And she needs him for answers, and for protection. Together, they will need to answer one crucial question: who was her real father?

But Caitlin finds herself caught between two men as something else arises between them: a forbidden love. A love between the races that will risk both of their lives, and will force them to decide whether to risk it all for each other...

"TURNED is an ideal story for young readers. Morgan Rice did a good job spinning an interesting twist on what could have been a typical vampire tale. Refreshing and unique, TURNED has the classic elements found in many Young Adult paranormal stories. Book #1 of the Vampire Journals Series focuses around one girl...one extraordinary girl!...TURNED is easy to read but extremely fast-paced....Recommended for anyone who likes to read soft paranormal romances. Rated PG."

After reading the first page I couldn't put this book down. It is scary, thrilling and romantic. A very original vampire book. I am a big fan of TWILIGHT. Now, I am even a bigger fan of TURNED. I am sharing it with all my friends.

I love this book. It reminds me a bit of works by Amanda Hocking and Richelle Mead, but it's very different. It's faster paced and more action packed. I love the cool settings, and how the author handles all the different types of vampires in the book. I also love the romance, and the characters--especially the main character, Caitlin. She's tough, and a great heroine. This is such a fast read. I definitely recommend it!

This was tense and thrilling! Very enjoyable. Can't believe it only cost .99 cents. Very scary and gripping. Couldn't have asked for more. Would have pulled an all nighter to finish it. Can't wait to read more from Morgan Rice. Hope a sequel comes out soon.

I got this book due to the positive reviews and it was only 99 cents. It was actually the first book I read on my new Nook! It was quite a fast read, I finished it in one night and enjoyed it. I look forward for the second book to read more on the adventures of Caitlin and Caleb!

First off, I love this cover. The darkness and fierceness of it is pretty awesome in my opinion. It's what made me decide to go ahead and start reading this book, even though I had prior commitments. Sorry ya'll, but I was drawn to this. =) The title insinuates that someone in the story is going to be turned into a full-fledged vampire. And, someone did, but not the someone I was expecting. That sort of disappointed me, but there's always the sequel(s). =) As for the remainder of the story ... there were parts that were Twilight-esque ... Two boys having feelings for the same girl ... Said girl feeling awkward and unsure of herself and her feelings .... Sound familiar? I figured they would, but I believe it sounds familiar because these are classic elements of many teen/YA novels (like this one is). I think people only compare these types of situations with Twilight because Twilight skyrocketed into a phenomenon so fast. Overall, this book really is an interesting and fast read. I thought it a pretty good beginning to a new series of books. There were quite a few story developments that weren't really completed in this book. I'm sure this was done to draw the reader in and make them want more when the story ends. Well, congratulations Ms. Rice, you have succeeded ... I want to read more.

This was a fast and fun read. I loved the romance. It reads just like some of the best books in the genre. The book grabs you from page one, and the pacing never slows. I am looking forward to the next installment!

The plot in this series is a bit interesting, but it could have been developed better and the writing style is extremely amateurish. I felt compelled to complete the series to discover the final outcome, although in hind-sight I wish I never started it. In each book the author seemed to have learned a new phrase or word and could not discontinue using its. For example, the phrase "...kicked him hard in the solar plexus" was used about 40 times in the last book. In book 5-7, "On the other hand..." was used every other paragraph. Clearly, an expansion of vocabulary is needed. And while investing in a dictionary, maybe, a good proof-reading is in order. Please don’t waste your time with this series. If I could apply for a refund I would.

I agree with something everyone said. It does have alot of typos but it was indeed a great story. It doesn't have to have romance in it. There are about13 more books. (I dont know the exact number) I love it and if you don't then you need serious mental help!!! To be honest, all you haters need to shut up. Your just jelous because you cant write 1 damn book. There i said what i needed to.

I got the sample to see if I wanted to read it. To be honest, I'm not a big "vampire" kind of person. I didnt like it and thought it was too...laid back. Do not reccomend. P.S. So sorry for my spelling. I am a horrible speller and there's no spell check on this thing.

It has a DECENT plot. Not great but decent. The author has absolutely horrible grammar skills and its annoying to look at all her mistakes while reading. I can honestly say the only thing that kept me reading to the 4th book was the endings. The books are slow until then. But the ends made me want to read more. Im done after the 4th though. I read the descriptions for the 5th-6th and it just seems repetitive. She could be a great Author with some work.

Don't let the ratings fool you! This is just another stupid story about an insecure, desperate, immature teenage girl who falls in love with every character in the book after 5 minutes! Not to mention, the author writes like a 12 year old. I am sure there are other words than 'she' and 'although.' The book didn't even get to a climax. Don't waste your time on the first book. No wonder why teenage girls are obsessive over boys. Books like these make them think that every good feeling must mean they are in love.
