Meet the Author

Melissa J. Morgan started going to sleep away camp when she was eight years old and didn't stop until her first job after grad school refused her request for eight weeks of summer vacation. She's since quit that job to become a full-time author. The only reason she didn't go back to camp is that her husband refused to join her. Melissa lives in New York with him and Bugle, their Chocolate Lab.

    Okay for a quick read

This was the second book in the series and I know better than to get into the middle of the story line, and I think that is why I don't have a glowing review for this book. Its a good book for someone who wants to have a strong young woman lead and see her deal with very complex things.
In this installment, we find Cassie in the middle of a problem. She had a scary brush with a shark while surfing and it really has her spooked. So much that she can't get on her board and surf without having a panic attack and really get physically sick. But her sponsor is about to give up on her and dump her for the next new thing...who happens to be Danica...a girl who has natural good talent.
The back and forth struggle between them goes on thru the book, but what I like is Cassie really has a struggle that a lot of girls have...getting back into a sport after a big injury or scare. I know the panic that Cassie shows and it can paralyze you...but you have to move past the wall and move on and get better. Cassie does this and shows that she still can have the heart of a champion.
I don't know if I want to try and get the others in the series...but it was a good fast read for something new and I didn't have to feel like i needed to memorize.
