Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

A new Pretty Little Liars four-story arc kicks off with this suspenseful novel. It's true that Ali disappeared a year ago, but there is no end to the twists, turns, and dangers awaiting Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily in this new number. (P.S. Yes, ABC Family's Twisted Little Liars is a well-deserved hit, but remember: This three-million copy series is no mere rerun; it follows its own exciting path!)

VOYA - Laura Canales
This volume details the exploits of the four main characters, Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, adding to each girl's latest exploit, and detailing how this furthers their particular involvement in the ongoing saga of what really happened to Alison DiLaurentis. Did she actually survive two fires and a deadly fall? Could she really be alive and could she truly be the "A" that has been stalking, texting, and scaring the life out of these four "pretty little liars?" From their privileged lives in the magnificent mansions of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, the four continue to add new escapades to their previous misconduct. Aria finds her boyfriend Noel's family is hosting an exchange student from Finland, gorgeous Klaudia Huusko. Spencer's involvement is more-than-friendly with her new step brother. Hanna's dad's campaign may be destroyed by her shocking photo shoot and Emily's new friend's father wants more than a simple thank you for helping her acquire a swim scholarship. Shepard does a fine job of writing an intriguing tale full of provocative exploits and adventure. For those concerned, there is a lot of "bad" behavior, the F word, sexual activity, stealing and lying. Those are the basis for the series, as the title indicates. The protagonists stay in character, keep the reader wondering what else could possibly happen and hoping that just once they will make a strong choice and be able to outsmart the evil "A." It is a must for any library that has been carrying the series. It will not disappoint the fans. Reviewer: Laura Canales

    Interesting..

I finished this book the day I got it. I'm not even kidding. I stayed up until 2 AM to finish it. Unlike many other people here who don't see the point in the continuation of this series, I still had questions at the end of Wanted. Like, what happened to Leah, that girl who was Wilden's girlfriend and left home and just mysteriously disappeared? And the epilogue at the end - was the new girl Alison? Taking what is revealed in Twisted in mind, I don't find it hard to believe that Ali escaped the fire.
Although there are some things that didn't really add up to me...SPOILER ALERT...specifically involving a pregnancy...I won't say who's pregnancy. Time-wise, the baby's birth isn't even possible. In Twisted, I couldn't help but notice places where Sara Shepard messed up. For example, in the previous novels, Noel's older brother was named Preston. But in this book, he's Christopher. So I was a little confused. Unless Noel has another brother who's name is Christopher...because in the book it said that Christopher was three years older than Noel and Eric is two years older...and in the other novels Preston was Melissa, Jason, and Ian's age, which would be five years older than Noel and the Pretty Little Liars, as Preston was a senior while Noel was in 7th grade.
I hope my questions are answered later on in the series. Even though this book felt a little like a prelude to the next three books, because this book kind of just circled around the current situations of the Pretty Little Liars, and of course what happened in Jamaica and because it wasn't as action-packed with a bunch of surprising twists like in the previous books.
But I think there's more to the Jamaica story that will hopefully be explained in Ruthless. I've decided to ignore the inconsistencies in this novel, so overall I'd say this book was a pretty good introduction of what's to come.

Twisted will leave you saying OMG NO WAY

Get ready for more secrets and more lies than before. A is back and is tormenting the girls like never before. Spencer has an ungainly new crush. Naughty Naughty, Emily has A BIG secret like you wouldn't believe. Hannah oh, poor little Hanna getting in trouble AGAIN. Aria has some competition for Noel.A new girl in Rosewood hmmm spells trouble. And the girls did something completely and totally Twisted in Jamaica. The bodies are piling up and you won't believe what happens next. This is a must read if you have read all of the other Pretty Little Liar books. This one however will leave you gasping. Enjoy!

    Unknown number

Just because the Ali case was closed, that doesn't mean I'm done. Puh-leeze! Do you really think I'm that stupid? Emily, Aria, Spencer, and Hanna are just going to keep on being bad and keep on lying. They are so stupid to think I won't do anything to ruin their lives. And don't worry, I haven't forgotten about your little secret either. Read this book and your secret is safe with me. Or...is it? Kisses! -A

    More drama, more creepy A

I had all but given up on PLL and was settling into the TV series when I saw this book at the store and I had to read it. I loved how the story has shifted to where the girls are older and about to graduate. But they still are haunted, literally, by A and the secrets she reveals.
I am not going to reveal what happens in this book(I am just too nice and I want people to read it and form their own opinions) but there seems to be an outbreak of girls manifesting so many qualities of Ali in Rosewood. First they see a girl in Jamaica when they all go on Spring Break and Aria has to deal with a girl who is keen on taking over her boyfriend.
The bad thing is you feel thrown back and forth with present day scenes melting into flashbacks from when the girls were in Jamaica. Sometimes I had to re-read passages just to make sure that I knew what was happening.
I cant believe the drama though, with Spencer getting mixed up with that creepy photog guy and Emily and the coach who wants to make things more intimate and hitting on her. You can see from this book though that there are a lot of things still left to happen in the lives of these girls and Sara is ready and able to take us back to Rosewood and I for one want to move in!!! Overall this was a great fun read and more than once I was screaming or gasping at the twists. I think this is a must read for all PLL lovers out there.

Better then I thought it would be!

Okay, confession time here, the only reason I read the series is because I was dared to. But I really enjoyed this book because it was so........scandulous. I think out of the ten books right now, it is the 2nd best. You'll like it if you enjoyed the eigth one!

    Great, but too much?

Like any PLL fan, I have read the books since the beginning. Not to hate on the show (which is entirely different from the books I might add), but many of us have remained dedicated to these books for the pure enjoyment of a juicy mystery book, instead of being hooked by the drama of the tv show version. When "Wanted" was released, it was rewarding to finally know every answer to burning questions and figure out who the heck was messing with these girls' lives. I will admit and say that I was hesitant about "Twisted", because it didn't make sense why the author would continue these novels when we finally felt content with the ending. But I read the book anyway, and found myself hooked as usual. I finished the book in one day. I do watch the television show and will suggest for anyone new to the books, but fans of the show: Don't compare the tv show to the books. The stories are completely different and give different twists/mysteries. This book is wonderful and addicting. It definitely leaves readers wanting more.

    Amazin book!!

If your a fan of the pretty little liars series or he lying game series, then you have to read this book! Sara Shepard did a great job twisting up the story line and adding the next couple secrets for the liars. Starting off with them in Jamaca and meeting Tabitha, but then ending the sneak preview right as it gets good, then continuing the rest of the "Jamaca Story" at the end of the book. I have to say that I didn't like how Spencer, Hannah, Emily, and Aria weren't friends anymore. Overall "Twisted" is an amazing book and you have to read it! P.S. If you havn't read any of the other 8 books in the story, read them first!!!!

Not a lot happened in this book, it seemed. If I'm remembering correctly, there wasn't much of "A" involved. I thought the story of "Alison" was interesting. There were some really shocking things in this book. I did think it went by way too fast though and ended too quick. Looking forward to reading the next book.
