This is a heartwarming story that I read after Heir of Sevenwaters. I couldn't find any reviews, and didn't know when/where in the order of the series would be best. This was a good place. After book 4. Shows the love of brothers, even with an evil mother, love triumphs! I hope there will be more on these 2 in the next book. Conri and Ashia are worth a bit more to the family story than to leave it as is. Its 54 pages on my Nook, a short read, but a good add-on to the overall Sevenwaters series.

I always had a soft spot for Fiacha. So great to see his mystery solved.

I am a die hard fan of Juliet Marillier so it came as no surprise to me, that even though this was a short story it was AWESOME and I loved it! It was perfect because it answered two questions I had for a long time. One, what ever happened to Padriac after he left Sevenwaters for the last time, and what really is up with that darn raven?! To find out about the Fiacha and the misadventures of his life were great. To find out that Padriac was not only fine, but had gone on to travel all over the world and have a full life with children was even better. It's amazing how J.Mar wove such an impressive story where Aisha was traveling to her father's childhood home to meet this other side of her heritage and family, and ended up on a completely different adventure than she ever expected. To have read what Conri went through at the hands of his mother, and then to read how he was "rescued" from his unfulfilling life from this stranger was great also. I have to say, as a black woman, that I totally loved the fact that Aisha was a black woman too, that was a major bonus for me!! Strong, independent and sure, she didn't realize all she had to gain, and what she had been missing out on until she decided to take on the new challenge presented to her. This was another hit for Juliet, and I cannot wait until the next installment of the Sevenwaters story comes out this year!

A wonderful way to answer the questions of the origin of Fiacha as well as what happened to Sevenwaters youngest brother. Prayers and blessings to you Ms. Marillier in your challenge and newest quest!
