Overview

In the space of twenty-four incredible hours, Katarina 'Rini' Herelius finds herself hopelessly in love with an exotic mystery-man with no name or face, and pregnant with his child. More than anything she wants to keep him and her baby, but life has a way of playing the cruelest tricks . . .

The last thing in the world Coleton Lonetree expects to find at the Cardinal Ranch Powwow is the love of his life. But when he takes the guilelessly sensual tourist woman into his arms and kisses her, he knows exactly what has been missing from his empty existence-a woman like her. He is determined to make her his for all time, and stakes his claim in the most elemental of ways.

When she fails to show up for their rendezvous the next day, he is devastated. Despite his desolation over her disappearance, the successful lawyer dreams of the woman from the powwow for seven long months. That is, until he finds her, large with his child, at a colleague attorney's office. He believes she is arranging to turn his baby over to strangers for adoption.

This is one abandonment he will fight to his last breath.

He proposes a marriage of convenience. Rini agrees, on the condition that they have separate beds. But neither can deny their overpowering attraction, a passion that sizzles between them with every look or accidental touch. Over the coming months they realize what they feel for each other is so much more than merely physical, but are terrified to acknowledge it, even in their innermost secret thoughts.

Slowly, they learn to trust.

WARRIOR'S BRIDE was a fantastic read! I don't know how to put my thoughts into words deserving of Nina Bruhns' impressive story. She starts off with her heroine, Rini, literally bumping into the hero, the very sexy Colton, all dressed up in his regalia at a pow wow. It is love at first sight as these two connect in the deepest of ways and later has Colton staking his claim on her believing he has finally found the woman of his dreams. The next day Rini sees something that is not what it seems and runs off without explanation. Both are heartbroken, angry and feeling betrayed over this misunderstanding and with no way of finding each other.

Later Rini discovers she is carrying Colt's child and is determined to keep her baby, but allows her sister to convince her to at least talk to an adoption lawyer about her options. While there Colton sees her, realizes her condition, and guesses her intentions. Yet another misunderstanding. Furious she would give away his child he confronts her, threatens taking the baby from her, and eventually offers her a marriage of convenience which she agrees to.

Right from the start I loved both Colton and Rini. Their attraction was intense and so sensual. Their first night together was smoldering hot and it was clear they were meant for each other. The misunderstanding the next day had me groaning over the loss. When they finally meet again in the lawyer's office it was just as frustrating. Despite the fact they both obviously still had strong feelings for one another pride, stubbornness, tempers, and insecurities get in the way. Both Colt and Rini already had trust issues which made their situation more complicated even though the true love they felt for each other was clear to everyone around them. Bruhns does a wonderful job of allowing the reader to see both sides' perspectives, gives us great secondary characters who both help and hinder our lovers as they try to make their relationship work, and a plot twist at the end I thought was superbly written. 4.5 stars!

A good love story but with much sexual explicitness
I was well-written but quite drawn out. It would have
been better without the indulging sex scenes that added nothing to the story.
"Rina had several issues from a dysfunctional childhood.
After a miserable engagement for years with an ungrateful, displeased lover ,
she discovered his unfaithfulness and decided to create a new life for herself.
In her attempt to become a new person she went to a "powwow'
and discovered an intriguing warrior who immediately was attracted to her as well.
She was mesmerized by him and followed him to his performance then to his teepee
afterwards. from there is escalates. Although he seem confident an arrogant , he has
serious abandonment issues which has kept him from the female population except
for brief flirtations...untill "Rina" came along. Their relationship was powerful, then
non-existent, then stormy. How would it end?

A handsome warrior of her own.........

Katarina Herelius was surrounded by Indian warriors. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! She had gone to Cardinal Ranch Powwow hoping to lift her spirits after ending her two year relationship with her cheating fiancee. Now one of the warriors was flirting with her and inviting her to watch him dance. After watching two of his shows, she ends up being seduced by him and spending the night in his teepee lodge, only to run away the next morning after seeing him kiss another woman. Colton Lonetree had hunted for six months for his mystery woman he fell in love with at first sight but was shocked to find her coming out of one of his coworker's law office heavy with child. Having been abandoned by his birth mother he wasn't about to let his child be adopted out to strangers. When he approached Katarina she denies she ever wanting to give her child up for adoption. After they both have time to cool down and think about what is best for their child, Katarina offers to allow Cole access to his child but Cole comes up with a different plan. Cole ask Katarina to marry him so that they can raise their child together, giving Katarina the support she needs to finish her education to become a nurse. Katarina agrees as long as they have separate bedrooms because she believes all Cole wants is his child not her. Trying to make a marriage work when both have issues with abandonment, cheating lovers, and a deep need to be loved unconditionally almost prove to be more than this couple can handle. WARRIOR'S BRIDE had me hooked at the very beginning with the powerful and erotic Indian dance, then followed close with Cole making love to Katarina in full war paint and breechcloth. Cole has to resolve his mistrust of women, while Katarina has to trust in Cole's love for her. There is one scene that makes every woman wish for their own Cole, as he rocks a colicky baby, while planning a romantic dinner for his wife, even baking a lemon meringue pie! Cole's Indian family makes this reader hope that Ms. Bruhns has plans for a few cousins in the future. There are a few misunderstandings through the book but then if there weren't a few rocks in the path of true love it wouldn't be a great love story. Debbie Gilbert
