There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instruments (which he plays shockingly), dances (which he does shockingly), and disgraces his host nation by doing something unspeakable to the Nazca Lines.
This standalone e-only short story illuminates the life of the enigmatic Magnus Bane, whose alluring personality populates the pages of the #1 New York Times bestselling series The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. This story in The Bane Chronicles, What Really Happened in Peru, is written by Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan.

While i am a big fan of tmi and tid this short on Magnus does not add anything of substance to either series. It is nothing more than some random scenes together that tell no real story, and in the end you still don't know why he is banned from peru. This is obviously just a money making scheme to take advantage of fans waiting for the next book to come out. I will not purchase another short like this, especially at three dollars.

I love Cassie Clare and I adore Magnus, but this story is... Well, it's silly. Not silly and witty like Magnus tends to be in TMI and TID. There's no depth here, none of the Magnus we have all come to love - witty yet tragic, fun yet melancholy, light and dark at the same time. This is just silly. And boring. And horribly written, to be honest. I got 10 pages in and archived the whole thing on my Nook. Sorry, but I'd rather re-read both of the Shadowhunters series' than waste my time with this drivel. It reads like a 12 year old wrote it.

It's no surprise that when I heard there would be novellas about him and his adventures I was super excited!! What a fantastic way to start of The Bane Chronicles too. I loved the humor and adventure, and I thought that it was so fun that it is told from an outside perspective.
This first installment gives us a peek into the crazy, entertaining, and sometimes downright hilarious things that Magnus has done, more specifically, in Peru. We also get quite a bit of Ragnor Fell in this too, which we know of him, but never really learned too much about him in either of the series. He is quite the cranky pants actually, but it's all very fun. We get to see Magnus do all sorts of things and get up to tons of trouble. I was laughing out loud at so much of this story and didn't want it to end. It also gave me a little more insight to who Magnus really is since we don't know a lot about his past or things about him outside of what we learn through the shadowhunters.
The narrator for this was fabulous and I really felt like he was passionate about telling us this story. He really captured the story well, and it was like getting a bedtime story read to me. I was sucked in from the start and I wanted to listen to him tell me stories about Magnus for hours. I thought he did very well narrating this and I enjoyed the experience of listening to it.
If you are a fan of Magnus Bane, or are just curious as to what all of this is about, I highly suggest picking this up. I wanted more the moment it was over, but luckily there will be a new installment each month. I really enjoyed the audiobook of this and if you enjoy listening to books, this one is great. At only just over an hour, it's easy to fit in, and will leave you in a fantastic mood. It was so entertaining! I want more of The Bane Chronicles!

Reads more like a fanfiction than anything C.C. would ever write. Also, for those if you who do read fanfiction, it seems as if this were one, it would have an "OOC" ("out of character" for those of you who don't) warning in the decription. Magnus is (unfortunately) not himself in this one, which is such a true shame since Magnus is, well, Magnus, and he wasn't himself in this novella.
Not to mention that Brennan and Clare's styles are too different to combine smoothly. It was painfully obvious what was written by Clare and what was written by Brennan.
Definitely not worth three dollars, not even one for that matter. If any of you had the unfortunate experience of actually reading this disappointment of epic proportions and were not impressed, please give a low rating so that we get the message across to Cassandra Clare how we feel.
For those who enjoyed this, I'm happy for you and I hope I didn't offend anybody with my rant.

I have to say I was really disappointed in this short story. I love Cassandra Clare and have never regretted buying one of her books, but this time I kind of did. I really love the character of Magnus Bane, and there was some awesome dialogue in this short. The fact that I found myself laughing out loud at many places eased the sting of disappointment a little, and earned it the 3 stars. My biggest gripe is that there was really no story, and when there were chances for something to happen, it kind of just skimmed over it with a "that was that". We got some glimpses into Magnus, but I would have liked to see more. I love Cassandra Clare and will recommend her series to anyone. Although she's on my auto-buy list, I will seriously consider buying the next installment of The Bane Chronicles.

While i love Magnus Bane, I'm not in love with paying $3 for 44 pages. Also, it just sort of felt as though she made a half hearted attempt to produce something to keep the series readers occupied until the movie/next book comes out. While I love her work, I'm not going to be buying anymore of these online....I'll wait like everyone else for the complete work.

This was a very short, but nevertheless fun read. I really enjoyed meeting the other warlocks and seeing Magnus as his younger, sparklier self. Can't wait for the next one to come out!

I'm a huge Cassandra Claire fan. I've read all of the Mortal Instruments & Infernal Devices books so far and devoured them. This short was funny but really had no true story line. I'm hoping for more from the next short.

My family and I love the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices with Magnus being an all around favorite, so we were excited for his own mini series. However, this was a huge disappointment. This was horribly written and didnt have any of the witty and sarcastic Magnus we all know and love. It sounds like she just let her fangirl write this book. So not worth three dollars and I dont plan on purchasing the next parts. Will wait for city of heavenly fire.

I would not pay $2.99 for like 43 pages. Novellas from other series that are similar (or longer) length are about a dollar less. I'll just wait and buy the whole book for way less. Maybe.

I personally really liked it and the ending I thought was good cause I just decided on what happened, however i would have liked the real reason. But the short stories of his adventures were really entertaining and funny either though they were short, but that's what a short story is. Other than that keep in mind that Cassandra Clare was co-writing this story with another person (Sarah Rees Brennan) so the writing style is a bit different from what everyone is use to seeing. The reason why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because I feel that $2.99 plus tac is too expensive for a 40 page book.

I don't believe this was actually written by Cassandra Clare and she should not want her name associated with this poorly written drivel. Won't buy another of these.

I am a big fan of The Mortal Instruments series but I had a very hard time just getting through this short story. The story does nothing to engage the reader. C.C. is normally a wonderful story teller so I'm not sure what happened here. Very disappointed.
