    Enjoyable Read

This is the fourth book I have read by Katherine Sutcliffe. Perhaps not her best, but definately an enjoyable read. My biggest objection was that it ended too abruptly. I would have liked to see a little more detail as to how things played out between Leah and Johnny once she found out what her father really was and that Johnny was willing to sacrifice so much because of his love for her. It would have also been nice to see what happend with Shimecka and the bodyguard! But, all in all, the storyline and the humor of the characters kept me entertained.

This is a great author but, the story was so-so...

I read romance novels heavily from high school and onward for about 15 years. I took off the last five years as I got bored reading love stories. I just came back this year. Katherine Sutcliff has always been one of my favorite authors. I have read all of her books less the more modern ones ¿ Darkling I Listen and Bad Moon Rising. My favorites by her are ¿Dream Fever¿ (really passionate and moving ), ¿A Fire In The Heart¿ (perfect in every way) and ¿Shadow Play¿ (excellent in all areas). Other notable reads by her are ¿Miracle¿, ¿Once A Hero¿ and ¿My Only Love¿. Most of her books are a bit on the heavy side in terms of passion, lust, intensity and motivation. These are not light reads but, they are still capable of making the characters come alive and the plot lines are always detailed and very enjoyable. Her work is not light and airy but, it is very pleasing once you are through. ¿Whitehorse¿ is one of the last books I had not read so, I bought it via B & N. Although, I didn¿t mind the story or the characters¿.the setting was too modern for me as were the characters. The heroine, Leah is a Veterinarian and her rotten and over-bearing father a top U.S. Senator. The hero, Johnny Whitehorse, is an American Indian who made it big in modeling, marketing ads, movies and so on. They met as kids in high school, fell in love, had a relationship and it ended when her father got involved. They meet up years later after she has been married, had a child and then divorced and he had made his way around the world and had relationships with lots of women. They re-new their acquaintance and many events happen around them before they can make their love work for good the second time. There were lots of solid side characters to make the story have more depth - Leah's handicapped son, her live in help, etc. The story line was fine for a modern romance over-all with lots of twists and turns. But¿for me¿a love story in the modern world just does not have the charm and ambiance and interest for me that historic settings and people do. Plus¿the love scenes in modern books are never as detailed or passionate or romantic as those in historic novels (we buy romances to dream and ohhh and ahhh¿don¿t we?). This author is very talented and I really like many of her works so, I won¿t give this one just a passing grade because I¿m not into contemporary works. It¿s still good and I recommend reading her books if you have not. You¿ll be glad you did.

    A disappointment

I could not get past all the facts that did not add up. How does a Senators daughter who is a doctor not have enough to pay her bills even after she wins a lawsuit on her son¿s behalf? Another unbelievable fact only one million dollars from said lawsuit??? Please! I also found it disturbing how it appeared to me that Johnny rapes her while in the woods. It is difficult for me to like a man who is cruel like that. This could have been a great story, but it was not.
