Wilfred is worried when he hears his parents mention that Miss Nancy has lost her memory. He asks the old people what a memory is, and all of their answers inspire him to fill a basket with objects. When this small boy presents the basket to Miss Nancy, each object sparks a special memory from her childhood.

    Beautiful illustrations, Heart-warming story

    Mem Fox tells a wonderful tale in this picture book that feels true. I especially appreciate the illustrations; they are mis-proportioned because they are from a child's perspective. It's a feel good story that's sure to be a family favorite.

    What an inspiring book

    I work in aging services and have yet to find a book that paints a positive image of older adults. This sends such a good message and we ended-up buying it for each of our different facilities. I would highly recommend this book for children or older adults.

    Helping children cope with loosing a loved older adult.

    This story about a boy loosing a dear old friend is a heart warming way to help children cope with a loss. The story stresses the importance of memories and does a great job explaining what a memory actually is. I give this book to the school library when one of the senior volunteers passes away during a school year. Teachers, librarians and principals who have read the book are very appreciative of this book for their students. Mem Fox makes everyone who reads the book think of a special person in their lives that they have lost and brings back all the memories we may have forgotten. Just a great book!!!

    A Wonderful and Heart Warming Tale

    This book was selected for an evening family reading program at my son's special education school. It's a heart warming and charming tale of a boy who regularly visits his elderly neighbors at the nursing home next door. The boy bonds with each of them differently as they relive their youth and help him understand the definition of memory.

    We all enjoyed the funny, warm, and colorful characters. The illustrations were vibrant. I reread the book after the reading program and shed a tear of joy and appreciation for my grandmother who passed away after living for years with dementia.

    Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge

    Excellent book to have in the collection of death, dying, and getting older. Any time a book needs to be read about this, it's a great one to have on the shelf.

    Memories Made

    Though Mrs. Nancy may have lost her memory,she has gained a friend in a sweet little boy named Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge. The pair become friends when he visits Mrs. Nancy at the nursing home where she lives. Wonderful memories are made and regained for Mrs. Nancy as young Wilfred reminds her of things from the past. As a school teacher, I would suggest this book for any age and for all school counselors!

    A GREAT STORY FOR ALL AGES

    As a teacher I loved sharing this story with my students and now as a parent I love reading this story with my three year old daugther

    A beautiful story - at any age

    We got this book from the library. The first time I read it to my daughters, I cried. I had to have it. I've read it aloud to friends and family and have purchased it as a gift numerous times. I hope I will be as lucky when I get old and have lost my memory.

    A Must Have

    I worked with youth between the ages of 12 and 19 this summer and we took them to different nursing homes. We used this book to ease their fears about nursing homes. I absolutely love this book.
