Meet the Author

Anya Bast lives in the country with her Belgian husband, their tornado toddler of a daughter, and more cats, dogs, and rabbits than is sane. Ever since she was a little girl, Anya has told stories (much to her mother's dismay). She's happy to finally be making a career out of it. A native of one of the colder states, she loves to ice skate and watch hockey. She has fascination for crows, ravens and birds of prey. She enjoys the study of Eastern philosophy, Celtic myth, dreaming, and shamanism and occasionally incorporates what she learns into her paranormal stories. She works part time as a data base editor and French translator.

    I Also Recommend:

The cover doesn't do it justice.

I'm sure the cover is supposed to show a sexy confident woman. I would like to assure you the lead character is not a hooker and has more class than this cover suggests. This book (and others in this series) offer strong female characters with men that compliment their strengths and their vulnerabilities. A great read for someone who enjoys a woman that will think, take ation, and accpets help when its needed. Not for the reader who prefers a victorian lady with no power, witch or not.

    Not my cup of tea

I only gave this book 2 stars because it was NOT bad just not good either. It says paranormal romance but it was not paranormal enough. every other page was yet another sex scene. I thought it would be like Laurell Hamilton but not even close. I would not recomend this book to anyone under 18 because of all the sex in it. I don't think I'll read anymore of her books based on that. However Anya is a great writer if you are into romance.

Good plot- way too much on the smut, even for a romance

Great story, sex scenes were so frequent & lengthy, it began to feel like spam or annoying commercials. I found myself thinking whenever author had writer's block, maybe she just "sexed it up". Seriously, I enjoyed plot, but hope that this consistent feedback gets relayed to author, so she can tone it down x10. It was so distracting, but the plot had me hooked enough. The ending felt a rushed, like she had inspiration for next book later on & had to quickly tie things up and bridge to next book, but still a fun read.

    Witches, Naughty-Warlocks & Demons

I was all prepared to give this book 3-stars until the last 80-pages or so kept me riveted to each page. I agree with another reviewer that said most of the book is predictable, however, there is also a high entertainment factor to it. The plot was interesting and solid. To be honest after the first sex scene, I breezed through most of the additional sex parts and just stuck to the story itself. I mostly read dark urban fantasy but found myself completely fascinated by the depicted demon world and race. I loved the train of thinking that perhaps humans have been victimizing demons by dragging them from their lives involuntarily upon summoning. That perhaps demons come from a parallel world much like our own. Isabella, a water witch, was spunky, smart and powerful and to my relief, didn't have an ounce of unnecessary bratty or stupidity in her. Together she and Thomas, the leader of the witch coven, made an interesting team. I look forward to reading the next book in the series Witch Heart. I also recommend this book to dark urban fantasy readers who have the patience to wade through many of the sex scenes to extract the plot.

Love this series, love this book!

I recently discovered the Anya Bast books and fell in love at first word. This one in particular really grabbed my attention. I couldn't put it down - and lost sleep as a result, and don't regret if for a minute.

    ending could be better

I thought the book was doing ok throughout and then at the end......I dunno if the author just wanted to rush and finish it or not, but it kinda just ended. I guess the aurthor couldn't keep going and going, but I thought the ending could've been better.

    Highly Entertaining!

This is second in a series. Witch Fire is the first book. I really enjoyed Witch Blood and thought it was a great sequel. Thomas was a man to lust after and fall in love with and I really enjoyed Isabelle as a character. It is a hot story. I would say it's definitely an erotic romance. Lots of action too, though!
