Meet the Author

Anya Bast lives in the country with her Belgian husband, their tornado toddler of a daughter, and more cats, dogs, and rabbits than is sane. Ever since she was a little girl, Anya has told stories (much to her mother's dismay). She's happy to finally be making a career out of it.

A native of one of the colder states, she loves to ice skate and watch hockey. She has fascination for crows, ravens and birds of prey. She enjoys the study of Eastern philosophy, Celtic myth, dreaming, and shamanism and occasionally incorporates what she learns into her paranormal stories. She works part time as a data base editor and French translator.

    A terrific romantic fantasy

Orphan Mira Hoskins is a waitress at Mike¿s Diner unaware that she is a witch whose power is elemental air. Instead she believes she is just a human female living a normal but dull life until now when the hunk reading the paper in the diner changes her life.--------------- That patron elemental fire witch Jack McAllister has abducted Mira and tied her to a bed. He hides from her how much he wants her especially sensing the fiery passion inside her that he covets releasing as much as freeing the magick she is unaware that she possesses. However, first he must complete his mission as the Coven assigned him to keep her safe from rogue warlocks who drain witches of their power and consequently their essence as they did her parents a tragedy he witnessed. He also knows she is off limits as the cousin of his superior still fire and air area volatile mix especially when love enters the relationship.---------------- This is a terrific romantic fantasy starring two volatile lead characters as fire and air mix into an uncontrollable inferno. The story line is fast-paced from the abduction to the final alteration, but it is the relationship between fire and air that makes the tale a blast to read. Though more of what happened to her parents especially Jack¿s involvement that has him carrying tons of guilt, fans will enjoy this delightful mixing of elementals.--------- Harriet Klausner

    I Also Recommend:

    Witch Fire

I really enjoyed this book. I put off reading it for a while because it seemed to have more negative reviews than positive. I also thought it was going to be romance focused. That was a mistake. I'd say this book had a 50/50 focus between romance/sex and fantasy. It was put together in a way that made you care for the characters and want them to succeed. I am strictly an urban fantasy reader with not much patience for a paranormal romance. Surprisingly enough, Anya can draw a reader into the story and she definitely kept my interest. Mira is having a mundane life. She's recently divorced from a cheating, jerk of an exhusband. She now works as a waitress and lives in a crappy apt. but she does have pride in knowing that she is providing for herself and going back to school. In the midst of putting her life back together, she is attacked by two men who try to kidnap her. Enter Jack McAllistar who saves her and helps her find out who she really is. Mira and Jack have great chemistry and a lot of sex. The explicit sex didn't bother me, I actually enjoyed it. Witch Fire, is an extremely adult novel but....I'm an adult. Anya has a knack for creating a sensual experience focused on pleasing a women, instead of gliding over the women's pleasure to focus on the male; which a lot of authors (male and female) seem to do. Mira learns that not only is she a powerful air witch but she has the once in a lifetime chance to punish the man who stole her parents' magic and their lives. Anya has built a dark world where witches have the power to raise demons, magically torture and almost rule the world from behind the scenes. I look forward to finding out more about Jack and Mira in book two.

    It had potential

The story idea was great but all the porn really detracted from it. I skipped over the pages and pages of graphic sex, it was just overdone. How many times does one have to use the word labia before it gets an X rating?

    A New Fan

This was the first book I had read by Anya. Eight books later, I'm just as thrilled to read a new release by her. This book is the start of my favorite series by her. Mira is lovely and Jack will make your mouth water. With some racy love scenes I wouldn't recommend this for someone who doesn't like a vivid sex scene. However, the love is there complete with flawed but relatable characters, the beginning of a fantastic story, and a collection of books I have read numerous times.

    I Also Recommend:

    Good Witch Read

This is my 2nd witch read. I am more into vampires. But I liked it. It was an easy read. A good storyline, easy to follow and the characters were easy to get to know as well. These witches are different from other witches I have read about. These don't do spells all the time. They have some sort of elemental powers...hence the Elemental Witch Series. So I found that interesting. If you like witches you should check this series out.

    I really enjoyed this book

Anya Bast did an excellent job writing this book. I usually give an author some credit in the first book of a series because they are building characters & plots; there was no need to do that with this book. The characters & the plot takes off and flows from the first page. Excellent read & fun!

    HOT! HOT! HOT!

O.K. This book is not for the feint of heart! I loved it! Love scenes were extreme, story line was tragic yet triumphant, characters were hot, humor was cute, and everything tied in perfectly. I've GOT to read Witch Blood!

    Loved it!

I found this to be a wonderful paranormal romance. I couldn't put it down! The characters were engaging from page one and their story was interesting to watch unfold. Bast did a great job of balancing action with tender and emotional romance. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in the series! As one reviewer states, Bast is an erotic romance author. She has written many books of an explicit nature for Ellora's Cave. I did not find the sex scenes in Witch Fire to be at all crass or emotionless, however they are erotic. This is a book for those who enjoy a spicer romance novel.

    Good Plot, Lurid Sex

I found the plot to be quite interesting, and would be interested in reading the other books in this sequel, except for the author's lurid and pornographic descpriptions of the sexual act. Perhaps this is my personal opinion, but I found the bedroom scenes to be described extremely coarse, with not much feeling between the two main characters. I personally do not enjoy reading that kind of description, and it takes away from my enjoyment of the book.

The hero, Jack is an alpha male with some insecurities that make him more endearing. Mira is believable in her role, she is a strong chracter with her own insecurites. However she doesn't get all caught up in them ,as sometimes authors overdo. Understand that Bast is an erotic romance writer. There are explicit sex scenes, but nothing that is vulgar. If you like mild to no sex in books then this is not the book for you.
