Meet the Author

Maureen Smith is the author of nineteen novels and two novellas. She received a B.A. in English with a minor in creative writing from the University of Maryland. She is a former freelance writer whose articles were featured in various print and online publications. Since the release of her debut novel in 2002, Maureen has been nominated for six RT BOOKreviews Reviewers’ Choice Awards and numerous Emma Awards, and has won the Romance in Color Reviewers’ Choice Awards for New Author of the Year and Romantic Suspense of the Year. Her novel, Secret Agent Seduction, won the 2010 Emma Award for Romantic Suspense of the Year. In 2011, she won the RT BOOKreviews Reviewers’ Choice Award for Recipe for Temptation for Best Kimani Series Romance. She also received the Emma Award for Steamy Romance of the Year for Recipe for Temptation, Romantic Suspense of the Year for Like No One Else, and Author of the Year.

    Simply Breathtaking

    WOW! I'm still trying to catch my breath. AWESOME read! Maureen Smith has yet to disappoint me, but this was far better than I could have ever imagined. Talk about catching you from the first page and keeping you turning the pages 'til the very end. The storyline was very well developed and kept you guessing until the very end. All the characters played a memorable roles within the novel, keeping you wondering who could have done it. The romance and heated attraction between Garrison and Imani was simply breathtaking. Could not put the book down, read all 426 pages in 1 1/2 days. You will not be disappointed if you pick this novel up!

    Thanks for the great adventure and the bad boy!!

    Loved the book. And the dangerous lover. I cheated and read the end first -- no help. Then read the first chapter, still no help. The back of the book, a clue, but not what I expected. Noticed the great writing style. Very experienced writer, including the need for a dictionary every now and then. Listened to it discussed at a book club meeting, but couldn't remember the outcome when I started reading. Totally surprised about who was the bad guy. The clues kept me accusing different characters -- not letting on to the truth. This book kept me reading with vigor. Could not put it down until I reached EACH of the climaxes -- that were MULTIPLE!!! (;>) She is that lady in the streets, but a freak in the bed! Romance, suspense, necessary dialogue, fun interactions, and attractive characters. Redefines the overachieving women, her wit, and her choice of relationships, or lack there of. Some parts about the bad guy are a little 'text-bookey.' Typically I prefer a demon or witch in a love story.

    This book will hook you from the beginning. You will not want to put it down. Ms. Smith has me wanting to read more from her.

    It was too good

    This book was really a romatic suspense. My sister kept bugging me to read it. She says 'If you don't you're missing out,' and she was right. You felt all these emotions, you want to laugh cry, and sometimes it made you scared off your pants. This book really shows the power of love, and I loved the bond between Imani and Garrison.

    This book had the right amount of intrigue and romance. The characters sizzled off the page. I did not want to put it down. A definite must read.

    Would not recommend

    This book had an interesting story line but the language between the two main characters was annoying. I just could not get past the "baby" this and "baby" that. Weak plot and the end was kind of pointless.

    Recommended for those that love mysteries

    I thought this was a great read. I finished it in 4 hours and was caught up in the story line. If you like mysteries you will love this book!
