All throughout my school career, there was something about history class I just didn’t get. It was always the worst grade on my report card, and in college as soon as I could opt out of taking it, I did. I couldn’t relate to what I saw as simple memorization, never my strong suit: dates, wars, lists of presidents, treaties, and conflicts. I couldn’t see the story, the bigger picture. But as I’ve come to discover through writing my own books, history is really just a fascinating, fun, adventurous story. Like a good novel, but it actually happened—how cool is that? Had I known that earlier, I may have paid closer attention in class!
