Favorite LOL Book: Bet Me
A comedy of errors and misunderstandings, Bet Me follows Min, a self-described chubby woman in her thirties, as she sets out to take advantage of a bet between her ex-boyfriend and a sexy man named Cal. A bet that says Cal can’t get Min into bed within the next month. Cal the genial extrovert and Min the risk-averse shadow are the perfect mismatched pair, and they both come with an increasingly insane entourage of crazy friends and enemies. I remember the first time I read this book (notice the use of the word “first”). My shoulders were constantly moving up in down as I tried to contain my laughter. But every time, after several seconds of silent body shaking, I would inevitably unleash an uproarious howl. No regrets!

Favorite LOL Book: Wallbanger
Caroline has just moved into a gorgeous new apartment, and she has zero complaints. Well, she has a couple of complaints. It’s not ideal that for some inexplicable reason, she can no longer achieve orgasm. And it’s also not ideal that her neighbor constantly reminds her of that fact with his string of pretty girls and their constant wallbanging next door. The book is as fun and silly and over-the-top as the premise promises, and the more ridiculous the event, the harder the laughter it invokes. Wallbanger is the first in Clayton’s beloved Cocktail Series, all of which will produce tears of laughter (a.k.a. the best sort of tears). Her Redhead Series is equally, hilariously delightful.

Favorite LOL Book: Tangled
Get ready to let loose your most shameless ugly-laugh. Widely thought of as one of the most hilarious contemporary romances, Tangled is the story of Drew Evans, a rich, handsome, and arrogant man who gets taken down a peg or two (or three). It’s one of those classic “playboy is challenged and ultimately changes his player ways” stories, but with the added benefit of dirty humor, amazing chemistry, and an all male point of view. That’s right—you will be all up in Drew’s head, hearing all of his ludicrous thoughts and outrageous takes on what’s happening in his life. Drew may not start out as the best, most morally on-point dude around, but that makes it all the more fun to watch his fall—and his ultimate redemption.

Favorite LOL Book: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake
It’s not just contemporary romance authors blessed with the gift of wit. Historical romances often get in on the hilarity, and Sarah MacLean, whose books are mostly regency romances full of witty dialogue and hilarious scenarios, is just one of many enchantingly funny historical authors. With multiple series all slightly connected, it’s best to start at the beginning when picking up MacLean’s work. And the beginning just so happens to be one of my all time favorite romances: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake. The story follows Calpurnia (Callie) as she makes a list of societal rules she’d break if only she had the courage. With a little help from the dreamiest romance hero and rake of all time, Gabriel St. John, Callie sets out to cross each one of those items off her list. Full of amusing misadventures and witty dialogue, this is the type of romance that will make you laugh, cry, and wish you could find a rake of your very own (ahem, get in line).

Favorite LOL Book: Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs
It’s hard enough to juggle life as it is, so just imagine how hard it would be if you had to juggle life as one of the newly undead. You have to miss out on all your old, favorite human snacks; you have to adjust to a new sleeping schedule; and you have to decide how you really feel about your (super sexy) vampire sire. Luckily, Jane Jameson manages to accomplish it all with her signature wit and charm. Simply put, Jane is funny. Her banter with everyone from her sire Gabriel to her friends produces laugh-out-loud moments, and the scenes in which she adjusts to her new vampire powers will earn you some strange looks as you try to hold in your laughter. Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs is the first in the Nice Girls series, so don’t worry: if you love it, there’s plenty more where that came from.
