This book is perfect for anyone who wants a sweet seasonal read, minus the ghosts and goblins of Halloween. One of my favorite parts of Halloween was going to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving, and this book celebrates that family tradition. It also contains a religious element, thanking God for the blessings of the pumpkin patch.

Trick or Treat, Pout-Pout Fish, by Deborah Diesen and Dan Hanna 
In this cute book even sea creatures love to go trick or treating! What costume does pout-pout fish decide to wear for the occasion? A ghost? An astronaut in space? You’ll have to read the book to find out, and perhaps your little one will get some costume inspiration along the way!

Boo! Bu!, by Leslie Patricelli
This adorable book is perfect for your young bilingual readers. This book is a super fun and interactive holiday read! You can be the little cat as you read along by using the attached finger puppet. Little cat goes outside for a slightly spooky adventure but all ends well when she makes it home by the end of the night. “Back in her bed, Little Cat finds a treat. Never Touch a Monster, by Rosie Greening
Although the title warns you against touching a monster, you’ll want to go ahead and do just that in this interactive, texture-driven board book. The narrator goes on to give you all of the reasons why you mustn’t touch a monster, or look it in the eye, or sit down to have tea with it, because you might just get eaten up yourself. Yikes!

Eek! Halloween!, by Sandra Boynton
The chickens are nervous in this funny story by board book virtuoso Sandra Boynton. I suppose I would be too if out of the blue I started seeing witches, wizards, and pumpkins with flickering eyes and I didn’t know why! Luckily there’s a perfectly logical explanation for all of the strange stuff going on—it’s Halloween! Eek!
