Gifts for Doctor Who Fans

What do you get for the Whovian who has everything? The obvious answer: a ride on the TARDIS. But, as we have come to know, the Doctor is not always conveniently located (unless you’re in Cardiff) nor reliably amenable to taking on guests.
Thankfully, we have a wealth of alternative time-traveling goodies to choose from. Here are just a few things that will put a smile on the face of any Gallifrey diehard.

Doctor Who: The Secret Lives of Monsters, by Justin Richards
It was only a matter of time before someone blew the lid on UNIT and Torchwood and brought to life all the top secret information they’ve collated on the grisly and ghastly (and maybe sometimes cuddly *cough* Adipose *cough*) alien species out in the multiverse and here among us. The time is now, and the someone is Richards. In the guise of an exposé of classified files, Richards takes you through the various extraterrestrials and straight-up monsters the Doctor and his collaborators have run across over the years, and offers up some interesting bits of trivia.
Disappearing TARDIS Mug
Take control of the TARDIS first thing in the morning with this 12-ounce mug. Just add hot liquid to send the image of the familiar blue police box from the quiet London street on one side to a distant galaxy on the other. You’ll have to provide the signature sound effect yourself, however.
TARDIS Journal (Barnes & Noble Exclusive)
The TARDIS, the Doctor’s main mode of conveyance, is famously bigger on the inside. That’s certainly true of this nifty journal, which is large enough to contain entire worlds, provided you make them up and write them down on the 192 lined, Who-themed pages.

Doctor Who: The Vault, by Marcus Hearn
Everyone’s favorite Time Lord celebrated his 50th year on Earth television screens last year, and it was a time of much reminiscing about a half-century of production and the eleven actors who’ve stepped into his revolving shoes. In that spirit, Doctor Who: The Vault relives the journey in pseudo-scrapbook form, with photos, memos, letters, scripts, interviews (including with the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith), and more. It’s the compendium every companion-in-waiting needs as they wait for the sound of their ticket out of town.
Doctor Who: Deep Breath
If you’re looking for a taste of the new Doctor, this extras-laden edition of the Season Eight premiere is a good bet. In Deep Breath, the Doctor and companion Clara investigate the mysterious death of a dinosaur in Victorian-era London.
Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor
It’s three Doctors for the price of one in this 50th anniversary special, which brings together David Tennant’s Ten and Matt Smith’s Eleven to solve the mystery of their missing regeneration and the tragic conflict that resulted in the near-extinction of the Time Lords.

Doctor Who: A History of the Universe in 100 Objects, by Steve Tribe and James Goss
Two seasoned Who authors have come together to compile a delightfully thorough encyclopedia of Doctor Who. Having such a compendium of objects and factoids handy proves supremely useful when settling bets between exacting fans, or when you can’t remember specific details about the inner workings of the Teselecta. There is so much compressed data within these pages, it might take all of the Doctor’s 2,000-and-change years to finish it.
Doctor Who Postcards From Time and Space
One hundred postcards from the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who to line walls, bookshelves, cubicles, and all other places we don’t need to necessarily know about. There is also the possibility of co-opting them into an offshoot, square game of pogs. It’s up to your discretion, but the bottom line is, they make a wonderful gift.
Doctor Who: The Complete Eighth Series
And, of course, let’s not put the cart before the horse (whose name is Susan, by the way). Every Who fanatic must have the complete series in their possession. Thus, the ultimate gift is to order Capaldi’s first season as the madman in a police box, before it drops December 9.
Twelve’s Sonic Screwdriver Replica
Every Doctor has his signature look, with the accessories to match. Like the iPhone, even a trusty sonic screwdriver must get refreshed with each regeneration. Here’s your chance to own a detailed replica of Twelve’s ever-useful tool, featuring touch-activated sounds and lights.
Doctor Who: The Complete Seventh Series
Twelve has wrapped his first series of adventures, but if you’re still not quite ready to say goodbye to the Eleventh Doctor, you can revisit his last 13 episodes with the Season Seven boxed set. Included are special prequel shorts to nine episodes, originally produced as part of the 2012 Children in Need fundraising drive.
Captain Jack’s Vortex Manipulator & Mini Tenth Doctor Sonic Screwdriver
For those reluctant to bid farewell to the Doctor’s earlier incarnations, there is also this set of replica props from the David Tennant era, including Captain Jack’s time-bending vortex manipulator and the Tenth Doctor’s sleek, slimmer sonic screwdriver.
Doctor Who Collector’s Edition Yahtzee
The classic game with a geeky twist—why try to roll five of the same number when you could instead shoot for five Daleks? Why shake a boring old cup when you can rattle the TARDIS in your hands? Just remember, the only way to score a Weeping Angels Yahtzee—don’t blink!
Talking TARDIS Cookie Jar
We can all agree that nothing would be better than a jar of tasty treats that was bigger on the inside. Even if this one does conform to the laws of our boring Earth physics, it makes that great TARDIS sound when the lid is opened, complete with flashing lights.
TARDIS Throw Blanket
Keep warm on an icy night on Ood (or just snuggle up on the couch to watch the Twelve’s latest escapades) with this comfy throw blanket. At 50” by 89”, it will keep you and a companion warm.
TARDIS Backpack
Wear your love for the Doctor on your back with this detail-accurate, die-cut TARDIS backpack, large enough to hold everything you need to get you through a day of adventuring through time (or just heading off to school or work).
TARDIS String Lights
Celebrate the holidays like a Time Lord with these indoor-outdoor TARDIS string lights. A perfect decoration whether you need illumination during a Christmas invasion, or want to get yourself in the mood for the annual Who holiday episode.
