Go Back to the Future with These YA Time Travel Novels
I should probably be upfront about this right now: TIME TRAVEL IS MY JAM.
Seriously. I’m a Back to the Future/Doctor Who fanatic who will happily sit you down and tell you why Looper doesn’t work (YOU CAN’T JUST PRETEND THE RULES OF TIME TRAVEL DON’T EXIST, THEY DO AND THEY’RE IMPORTANT). If I was given the opportunity to hop aboard a time machine and explore the past or future, I’d take it in a heartbeat. (Especially if it was David Tenant offering to let me come along.) I want to ride hoverboards and flirt with Teddy Roosevelt and see an original Shakespearean production. I love, love, love me some good time travel.
Of course, what makes time travel “good” is in the eye of the beholder. Some want rip-roaring adventures with historical figures, aliens, and maybe occasionally dinosaurs (yes, please!). Others like a cross-century love story (also great, if you don’t get icked out by a 100+ year age difference). Or maybe you’re more into a “must go back in time and save the world from the apocalypse” kind of time travel. There are a ton of different ways to explore this awesome genre. Now Anna and Bennett have to find a way to be together, despite the fact that time is trying to keep them apart. A definite must-read for those who like their time travel with a heaping side of romance.

Alex has always had visions of the past that she can’t explain, as though she’s lived many lives before. As it turns out, that’s exactly what’s happened: Alex is a time traveler, and now that she knows it, she can choose to visit any of the lives she’s led before. Too bad someone out there isn’t very happy about Alex’s visits and wants to stop her. Permanently.
Shadows Fall Away, by Kit Forbes
