Fairy Tales, Myths & Fables for Kids

From classic fairytales to newer retellings, fairy tales and fables have been enjoyed by children for generations. Fairytales typically feature magic, mythical creatures, and moral lessons. While many may think of fairy tales as simply enchanting stories, they also hold important themes such as love and loss, good and evil, kindness and greed. Similarly, fables also convey moral lessons and feature magical beings such as talking animals or inanimate objects to convey their point. Many popular fairy tales and fables have been made into movies and TV shows such as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, the Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Ugly Duckling. Since many of these stories have existed for centuries, there have also been a fair amount of retellings such as Stephen King’s Hansel and Gretel, Jon Scieszka’s The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, or Snow White and the Dragon by Kim Bussing.
