10 Lies Men Believe is a compassionate but confrontational look at the reasons why so many Christian men today are in serious crisis. The author, who has spent eight years confronting the abuse of women in more than twenty countries, believes men are failing in marriage, fatherhood, friendships, and careers because of ten wrong mind-sets inherited from culture. With gut-level honesty, the author offers practical answers for men who struggle with a variety of issues, including addiction, abusive tendencies, pornography, controlling behavior, and emotional problems rooted in a lack of proper fathering. The book is also an excellent resource for women who are suffering because of mistreatment by the men in their lives.

I got this book because I like reading Lee Grady¿s blog on the Charisma site. I like his take on different topics and wanted to see what he had to say on the topics covered in this book. This book presents Grady¿s passionate Biblical approach to the real issues that 21st century men face. What comes through to the reader is a call to genuine masculinity that is not machismo or chauvinistic. When I first looked at the chapters titles of the 10 Lies listed in the book I thought to myself, ¿I already know this stuff.¿ Yet, I found that each topic is so well covered that even people who-already-know-this-stuff will find helpful insights. If you are getting this book as a gift or for a men¿s group keep in mind that some of the chapters are really really deep. It¿s a great book, but if you are sharing it with others be prepared then also to have serious conversations about abuse, addiction, brokenness, and sin. Grady writes in a way so that he zealously gets to the root of the issues so that men in their brokenness can apply Biblical truths for healing and restoration. Grady is unapologetically Pentecostal, but Christians of various faith expressions and denominations can benefit from this book (I am not at a Pentecostal church and I got a lot out of this book). This book is also great for seekers of faith.
