A relatively low angst second chance romance mixed with Southern charm and a bit of steamy goodness. Clyde is the typical stubborn alpha male and even when I wanted to shake him, I couldn't help but like him. I did get a bit frustrated with Shyla's manipulations to get back in Clyde's good graces. With opening after opening, I kept wondering why she wouldn't just tell him rather than play more games. We do have a small bit of drama in the last quarter of the story that left me somewhat confused about what it actually added to the story, but all in all, it's an easy read of second chances and never forgetting your first love.

Everyone deserves a second chance. Clyde was determined not to get one. He'd been rejected in front of too many people when he asked the girl he loved to marry him. Years later he's still angry about it when the all grown up Shyla moves back to town.
He doesn't make it easy. There are plenty of outside influences that work against them but this southern female enlists the advice of her best friend and her mother who each has very different ideas about how to get your man.
You'll find humor, southern charm and stubbornness, steam, tricky situations, likable characters, and a couple you will cheer on all the way. I enjoyed the story and the one problem I had was cleared up by the end of the book.
