A. Mitchell was born in Newark and raised in Linden, New Jersey. He earned a BS in corporate fitness from The College of New Jersey in 1991. The author operates his own company, The Art of Personal Training, and has worked as a personal trainer for over 20 years in various large markets such as Los Angeles, New York, Houston, and currently Southwest Florida.

He has a diverse career encompassing personal training, corporate fitness, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, sports specific training, and geriatrics. Alan enjoys working out, film making, photography. travelling, and driving anything that goes fast.
