A Beautiful Heist by Kim Foster

Everyone has a talent. Some are just more legal than others. Cat Montgomery steals jewels for AB&T, the premier agency for thieves in Seattle. Career perks: good pay, great disguises, constant adrenaline rush. Drawbacks: the possibility of jail time. . .or worse. Now she's taken on a lucrative side job—recovering a priceless Faberge egg for an alleged Romanov descendent.

Though Cat is working solo, there are plenty of interested players. Her FBI ex-boyfriend is nosing around, as is her former mentor-turned-nemesis. Then there's the sexy art thief helping—or is he hindering?—her mission. If her luck holds out, this could be the case that allows Cat to retire with her conscience and her life intact. If not, it'll be her last job for all the wrong reasons. . .

About the Author

Kim Foster is the author of the Agency of Burglary & Theft Series, a series of novels about a professional female jewel thief. Prior to writing thrillers about thieves and spies, Kim obtained her degree in medicine, and she has been a practicing family doctor for sixteen years. (Don’t worry, it doesn’t make much sense to her friends and family, either.) Online, you can find her blogging about her left-brain, right-brain mash-up on www.kimfoster.com. Kim lives with her husband and their two young boys in Victoria, British Columbia, where she's hard at work on her next book. And drinking a ridiculous amount of coffee.

This book is a so so read. One reviewer remarked it was like the Ocean's 11 seies. I wasn' t crazy about that either, but I could tolerate it, just as I can this book. Nothing special. Adult themes. Decent length and editing. Some sexual situations and cursing. I can' remember the exact number pages, but I think it is about 300 or there abouts. This author was very good with details, grammer, spelling and sentence structure. The characters are well rounded. The book seemed to have so many extrenous words and went on and on about nothing in particular, I became bored and had to force myself to finish it. AD

Enjoyed the descriptions of scenes and action as if watching on screen Quirky and fun but not slap stick

Interesting plot, characters, story, twists, ...but the author wrecks her own book with the constant repetition of thoughts, ideas, dialog. It's MADDENING!!! I bet a good 1/3 of this book could have been cut out with a meat cleaver and would make reading this a much better ride.

Though there was much that could have been left out to keep the story running smoothly, I found the story to be captivating.

A fairly predictable read but good for a quick afternoon distraction. The characters are interesting but there isn't much of a surprise in the plot. The romance is the book is a bit overstated. All in all, though, it kept my attention. Would recommend for those looking for a quick read

You keep wondering if they'll find the egg----And it stays on edge till the very end!!

I felt the book was a waste of my time. I kept waiting for it to improve but it never did. This woman, who has given over her whole life to be a thief, keeps justifying to herself why she is one. I don't want that! Spare me. I want her to realize the error of her ways, her to have an epiphany that changes her heart. She is someone that needs to grow up. She risks the love of everyone that should be important to her. It isn't admirable. She just comes off as some type of gambler or addict. This is an adult read, because of the gory violence and the sex scene which wasn't too elaborate but which was certainly there. I would recommend this to no one. _RandomSunshine

This book has a riff on Dan Brown, but Cat Montgomery is much more fun that Robert Langdon. Working for the top syndicate of Seattle: ABT, Cat steals for a living, and she's very good. Her handler, her co-workers, her rivals, and even her mother, hold her skills in high esteem. But can you have a life outside of being a thief? Read and find out

Fun and entertaining read. Well written caper with plenty of twists, and just a touch of romance. Just a bit too much emphasis on Cat's driving motive, but an enjoyable read overall. Looking forward to the next book.

Its a good story once you get past the beginning in which the slowness almost had me quit the book. I like the background on the characters but once would have been enough. How many times and in extremely dangerous situations can someone harp on the same thought? Not to be rude but own what u are and stop using a past tragedy as an excuse! The action was good as was the character development. Why did no one think to remove the gifts from the egg and secure it on their person?? Look forward to learning more about Ethan. I do wonder about her mother...

Interesting story but i didnt like the main char. By the end i thought id go crazy with one more justification for being a theif. Also, sharing sensitive info with mom and girlfriends...so unrealistic, their reactions and the thought. Char was too shallow, immature, and egotistical to be believable

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Foster writes in an easy read entertaining manner. Well developed characters allows you to get fully engrossed in the story. Although a little predictable it still gives you excitement and comedy intertwined. If you like Janet Evanowich books you'll love this one.
