This was a lovely second chance contemporary romance and the first book in a proposed series that I will definitely have to follow. Sutter and Dawson were high school sweethearts but broke up when Sutter left for Nashville to follow her dream of country music stardom. Ten years later, she returns to her hometown and finds that the old community venue where she and Dawson used to perform is about to be demolished, and Dawson is behind the project. This was a perfect, light summer read, which was well written and very sweet. A charming small town setting, credible and very likable protagonists, some interesting side characters and some witty banter. I really enjoyed this. Nothing explicit, instead focusing completely on feelings and relationships. I loved the music aspect as well.

I just loved this story about a country singer coming back home grateful for her roots and wanting to connect with her high school music teacher, knowing all along that her never forgotten boyfriend could be there, too. Sutter Knight has finally found fame in Nashville and traveling back to Sweet Tea is long overdue. It is the place of her home, her love, and her heart. Running into Dawson and learning that the old, beloved theater that shared so many memories with him, was to be demolished render her heart broken. That is until she, her spunk and her determination set out to stop the demolition and reconnect with Dawson, the guy who may have demanded the wrong thing from her but who never left her heart.

A second chance at love comes to former high school sweethearts, Sutter Knight and Dawson Yates when they reunite in their hometown of Sweet Tea, Tennessee. Sutter and Dawson haven’t spoken to each other in ten years when they both left town to pursue their dreams. Sutter is now a big country music star and Dawson is an architect. When Sutter returns home and discovers the Sweet Tea Gallery Theatre (that holds so many memories) is scheduled to be demolished, she is devastated. Then she discovers the contractor is none other than Dawson. Dawson plans to build a hotel in the theater’s spot. Sutter and Dawson both have strong feeling about what they want in town, but they also discover what they want out of life when they are brought together again. I always enjoy a good second chance romance and this one was just as good as I thought it would be. It was sweet and entertaining and the nice start of a new series.

WOW! I started this book last night and could not put it down till I finished THEN thought about the story for a while longer. I did not sleep till after 2am because sometimes a story is just so compelling that a mind cannot let it go till the story is finished and sometimes the story is not finished after reading the last page! This is a second chance at love love story that works. There were reasons that Sutter and Dawson were in love for years but also reasons that made sense, at the time, for them to separate after high school. The fact that neither one ever connected with anyone as they had with each another was one significant reason the two might be able to reconnect – and then add in the fact that their chemistry was still off the charts didn’t hurt either. Once some honest communication took place and truths were brought to light the relationship had a good chance of making it but it still was not easy for either of them…and would not have a chance at all without both being willing to be all in all the way forever…and that was a toughie for both of them. Working to restore the Sweet Tea Gallery Theater was almost easier than restoring their relationship for an ultimate HEA. There is so much I could say about Sutter, Dawson and their relationship before and after the big breakup BUT I won’t – I will just say this is a book worth reading and one that made me happy. I will also say that I am EAGER to read the next book in the series if it is even half as good as this one! Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
