About the Author

New York Times bestselling author Vicki Lewis Thompson’s love affair with cowboys started with the Lone Ranger, continued through Maverick, and took a turn south of the border with Zorro. She views cowboys as the Western version of knights in shining armor, rugged men who value honor, honesty and hard work. Fortunately for her, she lives in the Arizona desert, where broad-shouldered, lean-hipped cowboys abound. Blessed with such an abundance of inspiration, she only hopes that she can do them justice.

Older romances are my kryptonite and A Cowboy’s Choice by Vicki Lewis Thompson is no exception. Give me a couple with a few miles under their belt before the 20-somethings any day. I find older couples with experience are relatable and people I want to spend more time with. Jo and Brendan are definitely both set in their ways. It is interesting to see where they decide to meet in the middle; I think we will see more of that in books to come. Their story is perfect for a snowy winter night. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Oh man! Vicki hit another one out of the park with this story! I love romances that feature young couples falling in love but there's something special about a romance that is centered around mature couples. (I may be a little prejudiced since I'm mature. lol ) Brendan is a guy that any lady would swoon over! Whew! :D I've liked Jo since the start of the series but wanted to shake her for a bit. She came to her senses and realized what a great guy Brendan is, though, with the help of her friends in the Whine and Cheese Club. I love the way Vicki writes! I can almost hear Brendan's Australian accent. I definitely recommend this story! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review, which this is.

And What a Choice It Was! In the latest McGavin Brothers book, A Cowboy’s Choice, Jo Fielding makes Brendan Sawyer a proposition he can’t refuse. To avoid the hassles of dating where they would both be on their “best behavior”, she invites him to spend a weekend at a spa where they would be together 24/7 and thus see each other for who they truly are. They already felt the tingles of sexual attraction, but were they compatible in any other way? Fate steps in by the way of a blizzard which tests their tempers and their patience. To make matters worse – or perhaps better by Brendan’s way of thinking – a herd of buffalo enters the picture to further complicate the situation. Add in a Goondeen, some tantalizing “nudie” scenes, and Tarzan and you have this wonderful story of a second chance at love! I was gifted this book in exchange for a fair review. And just like the characters from Eagle’s Nest, I am always honest! If you like reading stories of friendship, love, and laughter, this is the book for you! You can read this book without having read the other titles in the series though it is fun to reconnect with characters from previous books.

The synopsis tells you right up front that this is going to be a wild ride, and it really is. The action starts quickly, and there are several surprises in store. Through it all, Brendan and Jo keep a real sense of humor and adventure -- well, until things get dangerous. But all is resolved with a little help from the Whine and Cheese Club (love those ladies!). I have loved every book in this series because they are all romantic and fun. This one was particularly special because Jo was a supporting player in the very first book. She was treated poorly by her ex-husband and absolutely deserves an HEA. As I get older, I find that I appreciate older characters like Jo. She knows herself, and she is not afraid to say what she wants. She has some discoveries to make, but she does that from a place of strength. I was also excited to see that Brendan was getting a story because I wanted to know how his experiences in Australia had formed him. At the end of the previous book, we knew he was ready for the next phase of his life, but I didn't realize he had that much of a plan. Wow! And I didn't realize that he had special talents. He was a fascinating character all the way around. I loved catching up with old characters, but Andy and Seth were hilarious! They stole their scenes and added to the comedy. Snowed in stories are always fun to read, but this one has some extra elements that make it special. I finished it with a big smile on my face!

Brendan Sawyer can't forget Jo Fielding nor his interest in her. He wants to test out their compatibility. Jo Fielding just wants to have a little fun in a nice yet different surrounding by getting away for a short time. Mother Nature has another plan and that's the plan their dealt! Jo has been through enough suffering dealing with a relationship where she was cheated on. She doesn't want to open up to anyone else and let them hurt her like she was hurt. A little fun never hurt anybody... Or so she thinks. She may get more fun than she can handle and more loving and care than she bargained for as well. These two have two different viewpoints on what they want going into this new trial situation. Is it more than they both can handle or can they let the pieces fall where they may? Is it possible they're a match made in Heaven that a candle can't hold a flame to day or night? You'll get every detail in this splendid novel filled with warmth while having a dynamite time. Getting to hear different verbage when Brendan communicated was such fun and this book adds to many great moments that will be remembered as each page was a delicious treat! I gave an honest review in exchange for an ARC of this yummy and blissfully fun novel!

I loved Brendan and Jo! Silver fox anyone? And with an Aussie accent? Yes, please! Jo certainly jumped in with both feet, but then got freaked out about it. Brendan was all in from the get go. What a fun story, when everything goes wrong but turns out right!

A Cowboy's Choice (The McGavin Brothers Book 13) by Vicki Lewis Thompson.... I enjoy all things McGavin... Thanks to Vicki for allowing me to preview and review this book. I love this series and this story of Brendan and Jo's "romance" it was fun reading about an older couple with a shared attraction getting together to figure it out. Lots of laughs, steamy sex, some bumps in the road and all bringing to a very HEA. So looking forward to the next McGavin from Scotland.... Reasons I enjoyed this book: Romantic Easy-to-read Happily Ever After Funny Steamy Entertaining Wonderful characters

Forty Eight Hours. A romance with an older couple, although maybe “romance” is a bit of a misnomer. Jo and Brendan were attracted to each other when they first met several months earlier and with the permanent return of Brendan to the US, he wants to pursue that interest. Jo however with a divorce in her background and some awkward dating experiences, wants to escape that whole phase and suggests a long weekend away at a luxurious resort. Needless to say things do not go to plan but they still get in a lot of sex with each other. Jo is not looking for anything permanent but Brendan is in it for the long haul. I appreciated that whilst Brendan swears like a trooper, we the reader don’t get to hear much of it and I was amused by some of the phrases used to illustrate his 30 years of working in Australia. Although one in a series this novel can totally be read as a standalone. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
