Melanie Dickerson is one of my go-to favorites. She dominates both my Audible library and a good portion of my physical bookshelf. I like to think that the heroines in her Recency Spies of London series and those in Jane Austen’s novels would be great friends. I can just picture Lizzy Bennett or Catherine Morland running around with Felicity, Julia, and Leorah, and getting caught up in all sorts of suspense and intrigue. A Dangerous Engagement is such a fast-moving book. This whole series keeps me on the edge of my seat in anticipation and… what’s the word?… almost holding my breath, if that gives you a good idea. I sit there reading (or listening), and it’s as if I’m in the room spying with the characters and just waiting for someone to discover what we’re doing. This story captured my attention completely, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. It was beautifully written with spunky, fun characters. Anna Parker-Naples did a fabulous job reading it. I always am excited to see her name on an audio book. What food best describes this book? Probably a deep, rich chocolate cake. Something that you want to savor yet can’t wait to take another bite.

Another fine book by a great author. Melanie Dickerson does well at filling my book needs. This one had an interesting set of characters. Felicity and Philip work well together. Ratley is a strange character. I kept wondering what he would do next. A rat for sure. And I couldn't believe her aunt. What a kooky lady! The story was very interesting and kept my attention. Moved along quickly and kept me guessing how they would get out of the situations they found themselves in. It was great as a stand alone.

I received this book from NetGalley.com for an honest review. A simple style of writing making it a easy quick read with all that you want to and expect in a historical novel. Love, deceit, lies, intrigue. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Our favorite regency ladies have been weighing the cost of waiting for love against the benefits of marrying for financial security since Lizzy and Jane. Unfortunately, not all gentlemen are Darcys and Bingleys, reader friends! Felicity Mason is just about the sweetest girl-next-door y’all can imagine. She’s also a tad bit naive, bless her heart. Phillip McDowell is our resident undercover spy but he’s no James Bond. He’s a natural at keeping his cool, highly trained, and completely devoted to his monarch and country. Dickerson draws readers into the suspenseful plot and softens the edges with a sweet romance. This is an excellent conclusion to a wonderful series! I borrowed this title. The opinions expressed are my own.

From the first page, this book draws you in and doesn't let you go as it takes you on a roller coaster of a journey. I love Melanie Dickerson's stories, and this one does not disappoint. While it is an enjoyable Regency-Romance, it is also a bit of a thriller, blending the two into a unique, and very intriguing, read. Felicity's life is simple, and as only one of numerous children, her prospects for marrying well are slim. But, when she's invited to a house party, and introduced to a man who's taken by her, it seems her life is looking up. Until she unknowingly stumbles into one of the biggest plots against the government. Phillip is honorable, and driven by duty to remove these insurrectionists, but he didn't plan on meeting Felicity, nor finding himself drawn to her. But, when she proves herself, he begins to realize that it will take the both of them to save England, and each other. I loved the romance here, especially the foils of Phillip and Felicity's first suitor, Ratley. And the character development not only of Felicity and Phillip, but some of the side characters, really help bring this story to life. It had me at the edge of my seat from the moment I picked it up until the last page, and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting a light thriller mixed with a beautiful romance.

I'm a huge fan of Melanie Dickerson's books. I read A Spy's Devotion earlier this year and loved the book. I didn't get to read A Viscount's Proposal prior to reading this third installment of the series. I enjoyed the book and anyone who loves Ms. Dickerson's books or who loves Regency romance with suspense would enjoy this book, as well as the entire series. The writing is fluid and easy to read. The plot is easy to follow and the setting of Regency England is always lovely. The story took a bit of time to build up, but by 1/3 way into the book, the plot started moving quickly. A few twists and turns in the plot towards the end kept up a quick pace to the end of the book. Phillip is a swoon-worthy hero, for sure. Responsible, attentive, loyal, self-sacrificing, and handsome. Felicity is a likable heroine, someone who grows into her true self in the book and becomes brave, committed to doing right. It was nice to see the characters from previous books in the series make their appearances. The ending of the book seemed a bit abrupt and there were some time lapses in the storyline that I wished were explained in more detail. Regardless, the book was thoroughly enjoyable and I really liked getting to know Phillip and Felicity through this book. I received ARC of the book from Waterfall via NetGalley. I was not required to write a review or a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

A Dangerous Engagement ( The Regency Spies Of London #3 ) By: Melanie Dickerson A Dangerous Engagement is book three and the last installment in The Regency Spies of London Series. I have really enjoyed this series , but I believe this one is my favorite. Even though this is part of a series it can be read as a stand-a-long with out any problems. Dickerson did not disappoint. This is a very suspenseful story and it will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to read faster to see what is going to happen next. The story and the characters are well developed. This is Felicity Mayson’s story. After Felicity is spured again because of her dowry she gets an invitation from Last Blackstone to come to her Country Home. Why would she get an invite from an aunt she does not know? There she meet a wealthy Oliver. Things move along really fast for Felicity. Things don't add up and are not what they seem to be. What will she do ? I was given a complimentary copy of this book by NetGalley, but was not told that I had to give a positive review.

I have long enjoyed Melanie Dickerson's reworking of old fairy tales into Christian themed stories. She does a fine job at that. And she has also proved she is very adept at changing genres, effortlessly moving into a great Regency. And not just a Regency, but a suspenseful one at that. She takes us once again into danger during this third novel in her Regency Spies of London series. This one is suspenseful from beginning to end. Don't miss it. *I was given a copy of this book by the publisher via Net Galley. My review is my own honest opinion
