About the Author

Fr. Barnabas (Charles) Powell is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. Having been raised in a small Pentecostal church as a boy, Barnabas grew to love the church. He received a theology degree in 1988 and went on to establish a new church in the Atlanta area.
A reading program in Church History and Theology eventually led him to enter the Orthodox Church in November 2001. He studied at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts, and was ordained to the Orthodox priesthood in 2010. He is now the senior pastor of Ss. Raphael, Nicholas, and Irene Greek Orthodox Church in Cumming, Georgia.
Fr. Barnabas founded Faith Encouraged Ministries in 2014 and is the host of Faith Encouraged LIVE on Ancient Faith Radio. He also produces the Monday-through-Friday devotional podcast, Faith Encouraged Daily. A Journey to Fullness is a video project he has released through the ministry to help parishes introduce the Faith to the average person.
