Very well written short novella. The relationship between two main characters developed through good dialog. Oliver had fully intended to win Lizzy since about five minutes after he saw her. Lizzy is a young widow. She doesn't want to try marriage again . Oliver is a real man who is not going to take a chance to lose his woman. And Lizzie matches him perfectly . I loved every page . It ended wonderful . G.K.

Eloisa James' stories are always wonderful. Unlike some novellas, this is a complete story, which doesn't leave you feeling like you missed half the book.

A quick and witty read about a heroine who has lost the will to have a life after her husband manipulated and ignored her for 4 years. The hero is instantly in love after meeting Lizzy and decides he's going to marry her asap! Oliver is truthful and abrupt with saying what he feels and thinks ever time he see's Lizzy. It was a story of forgiveness of herself and her father, and understanding of her dead husband. Loved it, especially the epilogue!

Lizzie has been widowed for two years but has yet to come back into society since her husband's death was a scandal. At her sister's house party she met Oliver, who has come to apologize for a childhood indiscretion. He agrees to get Lizzie back on a horse and get her to smile. He loses his heart to her. I enjoyed this story. It's a quick light read. Lizzie needed pushing out of her shell. Oliver was a doll! I'd welcome him with open arms. The two together are outrageous. I enjoyed the other characters but they were a very small part of the story. I look forward to reading more of this series.

If you haven't read anything by Eloisa James yet, and are thinking about it, this novella is a great way to give it a try. It has everything that I love about her writing, and is a wonderful story. The characters are great, and there are many amazing moments in this story. Some are funny and some are sad, and that is part of what makes it so great. I love that Lizzie is feisty and strong, and how Oliver has changed since he was young, and how he feels about the boy he was. The ending was one of my favorite parts, and while I have not read the Essex Sisters books yet, I had no trouble following along. In fact, I can't wait to dive into that series.

Absolutely phenomenal book and well deserving of a High 5 Stars! Eloisa James has done it again! She weaves such a tale of love, romance and passion that speaks to the hearts of her readers! I literally devoured this book, reading it in two days. Once I opened it, I couldn’t put it down! I love her wit with which she creates her characters, they are deep with histories and obstacles they must overcome. I absolutely loved Oliver and Lizzie, there’s no more perfect pair than these to star-crossed lovers. I highly recommend this book, you will want to add this to your collection! **Received from HarperCollins Publisher's for an Honest Review**

A Gentleman Never Tells is a Historical Romance full of humor, wonderful characters that you will fall in love with, and sensual, sexy romance. After eighteen months, Lizzie is still mourning the death of her husband. But truthfully, she’s really in hiding from the humiliation and embarrassment of the way her husband died: in his mistress's bed. Lizzie's older sister, Cat, has had enough of Lizzie hiding and sets a plan in motion, asking Oliver Berwick to bring Lizzie back into the land of the living. Oliver, however, wants more than getting Lizzie out among the living again; Oliver wants Lizzie in his bed and to make the beautiful widow his wife. Lizzie is a woman scorned, and being under a man's control again is the last thing she's ever going to let happen. But, Lizzie can't help being drawn to this handsome and sexy man, so his bed might just be the answer to her problem of still being a virgin, since her husband was too busy with his mistress to ever get the deed done. But for Lizzie, marrying Oliver will never happen. Oliver and Lizzie's romance had me smiling and swooning because of the sexy man Oliver. Oliver is a man already set in his ways, living a bachelor’s life, but when he meets Lizzie the man is tripping all over his feelings for this beautiful woman. Lizzie is also going head-over-heels for Oliver, because she has never had a man flirt with her or a man's affections before. Lizzie and Oliver's romance is proof that you never say never. I highly recommend A Gentleman Never Tells as a sexy, fun must read.

A Gentleman Never Tells by Eloisa James is a phenomenal read. Ms James has delivered a well written book with fantastic characters, drama and spice. The humor in A Gentleman Never Tells is my favorite thing about Lizzie and Oliver's story. This book is a fairly short read, a perfect choice for those with limited time for reading. I enjoyed A Gentleman Never Tells and look forward to reading more from the talented Eloisa James in the near future. A Gentleman Never Tells is book 4.5 of the Essex Sisters Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I like Eloisa James' books but this one did not hold my attention. Since it is a short novella, I read it. I appreciate that the hero wanted to apologize for his youthful actions and he is a good man but he needed a better story. I had mixed feelings about the widowed heroine but not enough to really care. Disappointing.

Wow! This novella is such a great read. There's a virgin widow who's sworn off all men, a confirmed bachelor who isn't sure he even deserves to find a lady love, and some conniving relatives who try to help the two along. You really feel for the characters and the situations that have brought them to this point. But there is also a lot of humor, which is what Eloisa James does best.
