About the Author

Shari Groovychef Aupke has been a chef for 14 years. After 10 years of teaching preschool she could no longer ignore the calling to the kitchen so she retired and turned her focus on food.
She took a two year extensive online cooking course and spent countless hours creating dishes for family and friends. When her youngest son started kindergarten she opened up a personal chef business in the Chicago suburbs. A year later she wrote a piece for a local newspaper and was picked up as a weekly food columnist for not one but three different publications.
In 2007 she underwent some life changing family events and relocated to the Illinois Valley area. She turned her career towards large corporate restaurants just to get a real feel for what the busy restaurant life was like. In the spring of 2014 she was given the opportunity to run a small kitchen in her area where she had the chance to spread her wings and experiment freely with her dishes.
Because writing and developing recipes are also a deep passion for her, she set out to write her first cookbook in 2013. She enjoyed the experience so much that she made writing part of her culinary career. She has been featured in the local paper as an up and coming chef and author.
Today, she balances her time between her restaurant position, her writing, and launching her personal chef business.
Her specialties include classic French cuisine, authentic Italian, Middle Eastern and Asian. She also has extensive experience in African, Cuban, and Spanish cuisine. She is most known for putting a groovy trendy spin on all the classics.
The Groovychef is the proud Mother of three children and currently lives with her oldest son (who is her sous chef) and her two cats, Baby and Johhny.
