To be honest, I started and stopped this book multiple times before I got into it. It took a while for me to warm up to both Sean and Gyllis. Sean is a Highland enforcer and friends with Gyllis’ brother, Duncan. Apparently he has quite the reputation with the ladies and Duncan wants him far from Gyllis. Gyllis, however, has a giant crush on Sean. Their meeting at the Beltane Festival is the start of their relationship but the couple is quickly separated. Sean’s father dies and he must rush home to become the new lord. Gyllis is struck by an illness which paralyzes her for part of the book. The couple is reunited when Gyllis is brought to an abbey to heal and Sean visits her there. External forces trying to take Sean’s land causes problems for the couple throughout the book. Once I finally got into the book, it became an intriguing read. Amy Jarecki convincingly transports the reader to 15th century Scotland. From the clothing depictions and historical events to the emphasis on religion in daily life, Jarecki creates a realistic world. While I’m not the biggest fan of religion in romance novels, I liked the historical accuracy of including it in historical books. This book definitely reminded me of Monica McCarty’s Highland Guard series even though it took place a couple of centuries later. Like McCarty’s series, the author’s afterword explains that these characters are based on historical figures. Sean is a determined warrior who fights for his land and his king. Gyllis overcomes the personal trauma of her illness and acts to preserve her love for Sean, both emotionally and physically. While I’m not sure if I’ll go back and read the earlier books in the series (Gyllis’ brother Duncan really bothered me throughout this book), I am intrigued by the next book. There was an excerpt for the book about Gyllis’ sister Helen in the back of A Highland Knight to Remember and I want to know what happens next!

This was my first time reading an Amy Jarecki book and I found it to be a fascinating journey into 15th century Scotland. It is the festival of Beltane and the nobility is out in full force, celebrating. The young Gyllis Campbell arrives with her family but she is on the prowl for the handsome and chivalrous Sir Sean MacDougall. While at this great festival, Gyllis captures the eye of Sean and they have a brief interlude that leads to the blossoming of a romance between them. Not long thereafter, Sean’s father dies and he has to ascend to the Chieftainship of the MacDougall clan, a responsibility that brings with it great danger. Meanwhile, Gyllis is suffering from a debilitating sickness that ultimately paralyzes her and leaves her helpless. At the priory of Ardchattan, where her brother John is a monk, Gyllis is tended to day and night by monks who see to her healing. It is at this priory that Gyllis and Sean, now a Laird, cross paths. Amy Jarecki’s “A Highland Knight to Remember” is the third installment in “Highland Dynasty” series. While I found it to be a tantalizing love story, I sensed while reading that I was not seeing the whole picture because I had not read the earlier installments. Overall, this book was an enjoyable read and the characters, Sean MacDougall especially, were interesting. At times I did find Gyllis to be rather irksome but as the story continued, I liked her increasingly as a character. For me, the one who stole the spotlight was Sean MacDougall. The pacing of the story was steady and the plot kept me fully engaged. The tone and atmosphere was obviously romantic but there was definitely some mystery and adventure woven in. 4 Stars Reviewed by the Merry Wife of Windsor. A Highland Knight to Remember by Amy Jarecki Highland Dynasty Series #3 Gyllis Campbell has had a crush on Sean MacDougall for years. Going to the Highland Games gives her a chance to pursue her interest in Sean even though her brother is not thrilled with the idea. Gyllis is upset when Sean leaves early and without explanation. On her way home from the games she falls ill with a wasting disease that she is bound and determined to overcome. While she is busy trying to get well Sean is busy trying to take control of his inheritance. Both have battles to fight that are not easy before they manage to see one another again, interact and move forward as individuals and eventually as a couple. The story includes torture, murder, betrayal, romance, marriage, battle and more. The road to true love is not easy for Gyllis and Sean but it is well fought for and worth what they suffer to achieve it. At times I had trouble believing the fact that they managed to accomplish some of the things they did considering the odds against them and what they had to endure but they always seemed to pull through and achieve whatever they set their sights on. Thank you to Rock Star Lit PR for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars

Lusty and Exciting with Plenty of Action and Danger! A HIGHLAND KNIGHT TO REMEMBER by Amy Jarecki is an artfully woven story combining passion and romance amidst familial and clan hostilities. It is set in fifteenth century Scotland. It's the third book in the author's Highland Dynasty series, but it can be fully enjoyed as a standalone story, if that is your preference. It is the story of Gyllis Campbell and Sir Sean MacDougall. I loved both the hero and the heroine. They were both loyal and strong-willed and they never gave up on their dreams - despite tremendous odds against them. Before they can be together, though, they will each have to conquer some demons on their own. Gyllis had been enamored with Sean for as long as she can remember. As the story opens, Gyllis is beyond excited as she arrives at the Beltane festival with her family. She has high hopes that Sean will finally notice her as a woman, and not as her brother's sister at the festival. AND he does - with fervor. However, when he later fails to show as they had agreed to a dinner, she believes the worst of him. On her way home from the festival, she falls seriously ill. Left paralyzed, she now fears she will be nothing but a burden to her loved ones. Sean has devotedly served with Gyllis' brother, Duncan, defending the security of Scotland. Because of Sean's skills at tracking and ambush, he had earned the moniker of "ghost." Sean was also known as a lusty laddie as he was quite popular with the lassies. Even so, he has always wanted Gyllis, but Duncan is firmly against them being together because of Sean's reputation. I found that argument ironic since Duncan himself was quite the womanizer before he found the love of his life. Will true love be denied? You must read this book to find out! This is the first book by Amy that I've listened to, instead of read. It's also the first time I've listened to Dave Gillies. Listening to the audio narrated by Dave Gillies most definitely added another layer of pure enjoyment to the story. He delivered a clear, solid performance with a Scottish brogue that was absolutely perfect for this tale. He differentiated between the characters so I always knew who was speaking and his pauses and inflections were spot on. To say that I was mesmerized by his performance is an understatement. I would not hesitate to pick up another book voiced by Mr. Gillies. I absolutely love Amy's books. She is one of my must-read authors. Her stories are always lusty and exciti

Gyllis Campbell has not hidden the fact that she wants Sir Sean MacDougall as a husband. At the Beltane festival, she thinks she has finally gotten her wish until Sean doesn't show up for their appointed meeting. She is still dealing with a broken heart, when an illness strikes her down and she is sent to the Priory to heal. Unbeknownst to Gyllis, Sean has been called home because of his father's death. Troubled by raids on his land and a traitor amongst his clan, Sean can't let Gyllis know that he is still interested in her. That is until a chance meeting at the Priory brings them back together again. Can Sean fight his enemy and win the hand of his lady love? When I read Jarecki's first series, Highland Force, I fell in love with her stories and her writing. Unfortunately, with her new series it almost seems like someone else is writing them. I love the storylines, but the writing quality itself seems to have gone down hill. Jarecki's next book in the series comes out in July. I'll give her another try then...

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Gyllis Campbell has loved Sir Sean MacDougall for as long as she can remember. As she is heading to the Beltane festival, she's determined once and for all that he will be hers. When Sean sees Gyllis at the Beltane festival, he is at once entranced. He would like nothing more than to openly pursue her. Even though her brother is his best friend, he'll never agree. Regardless, he can't stay away from her. When he is unexpectedly called away from the festival due to his father's death, Gyllis assumes he was playing with her her and is heartbroken. As she is leaving, she's struck by a horrible illness and is sent to a priory where one of her brothers is a monk. When Sean is sent to the same Priory for a meeting, he is shocked to see Gyllis there and to find out what happened to her. Once he finally convinces her of his honest intent, they slowly form a strong relationship as she fights for her life and he fights treasonous enemies. While in his youth, Sean was as wild as the next highlander, it's obvious from the beginning that he is 100% crazy about Gyllis. He is one of the strongest around, but when he's with her, he's totally tamed and at ease. During this book, he goes from a dedicated soldier to a chieftain in love. In the beginning of the book, Gyllis is a young woman determined to have the man she wants. Her illness sidetracks her and she uses her determination to overcome it and help the one she loves. During the story, the two main characters are given the opportunity, albeit bad circumstances, to really grow their love and get to know each other in a way they didn't know before. That doesn't happen in a lot of historical books. I really liked that part. I really liked this book. I thought the plot was rather unique. When I started it, I was a little cautious on that point, but in the end, I thought it helped build character strength. I highly recommend for anyone that likes this genre.

It tells the story of Gyllis Campbell and Sir Sean MacDougall, two passionate and caring souls, caught in a Scottish adventure filled with action, danger and romance.
