A Moment on the Lips (A Whistle Stop Romance, #3) by Jennifer Faye

Welcome to Autumn Fest…sweet treats, entertaining company, and a tender romance.

Piper Noble feels like she’s going places.  Her business, the Poppin’ Fresh Bakery, is a culinary success story. Next on her to-do list is expanding the bakery into the vacant shop next door…and starting a new diet, like her mom keeps nagging her to.  But when Joe Montoya steps into her life, her grand plans grind to a sudden halt.

Joe’s taken a big risk returning to Whistle Stop.  But with his disastrous marriage over, it’s time for a fresh start, including opening a coffee shop…and coming to terms with his troubled past.  Though his neighbor Piper looks like she’ll be a big distraction in getting Fill-It-Up Joe off the ground—with her honeyed smile,  curvy goodness, and her unflagging determination to grab his storefront.

However, when Piper and Joe are elected as co-chairs of a fundraising committee to help the town’s revitalization project, the hostilities must cease. Joe’s not sure about spending time with a woman who, one moment, reminds him of all the good things he’s been missing, and the next minute drives him up a wall with her stubbornness. Meanwhile, Piper’s looking for the way to this gorgeous but grouchy guy’s heart—maybe serving him one of her fresh-from-the-oven pastries could be just the right start…

Piper Noble owns Poppin Fresh Bakery in the little town of Whistle Stop. She lived in this town most of her life but moved to the city when she got older where she got engaged. When she broke her engagement she moved back to Whistle Stop to start her business. Business was doing so well she planned on buying the shop next door and expanding. Her plans fell through when Joe Montoya came back to town after his marriage ended and bought the store to open a coffee shop called Fill-It-Up Joe. Piper wants to buy the shop from Joe but he won't sell because he wants to start his business and be a success there after loosing everything in his divorce. Their relationship is not the easiest and gets harder when they are elected co-chairmen of a fundraising committee. Even though neither of them want a relationship, they soon are very attracted to each other. I liked this story with the love/hate relationship between Piper and Joe. Being set in a small town where everybody knows everybody else and what they are doing was comforting. I really liked this small community and their caring ways. I did find the refusal to consider any romantic involvement by both the hero and heroine a bit extreme but completely understandable given their histories. What I didn't understand was how they fell in love with each other since they weren't very open or giving. I didn't like that Piper was so worried about what others thought of her that she often held back. Please note that I received a complementary copy of this book from Inspired Kathy in exchange for an honest review.

Another winner for Ms Faye’s series , A Whistle Stop. Even though it’s book 3 of the series, it can be read as a stand alone. If new to the series, you will meet some of the characters of previous books for the first time, if already a faithful reader, you will be happy to hear how they are doing . I certainly was. This book centers around Piper Noble, the owner of the place to go for sweets, Poppin Fresh Bakery, and Joe Montoya, who used to live in Whistle Stop, prior to going away right after graduation. These two have been hurt by love, family members , and thus their self esteem is shaky. Both are trying to proof that they can handle things on their own and have built walls around their hearts. Joe has returned to open a coffee house next to the bakery, in the same space Piper was hoping to expand. Needless to say, they are nemesis but still sparks are flying all over the place. All gets complicated, and fun for us to watch, when they are voted to co-chair the Autumn festival to help restore the town square gazebo and the railroad station. So get ready for a very bumpy ride full of surprises. But trust me, you will be happy with the outcome and if like me, can’t wait to see what Ms Faye has in store for book 4.

4 1/2 STARS! I always enjoy my trips back to Whistle Stop, New Mexico! The comfort of seeing so many characters you recognize is great, the atmosphere is fun and it's just exciting to see who's story you're going to learn about this time! I loved the story, but I couldn't fall in love with the characters quite as much this time just because Joe kept irritating me with his hot and cold attitude towards Piper. Piper Noble has a successful business with Poppin' Fresh Bakery, and she's wanting to expand into the empty storefront next door. She's just finishing up tolerating her mother's latest tirade about how she needs to lose weight, when Joe steps into her life. Joe Montoya stops by to introduce himself because he's just bought the store next door and is starting a remodel to open his coffee shop, Fill-It-Up Joe. Piper is obviously very disappointed, and they get off on the wrong foot. They continue to irritate each other, even when trying to make amends but are finally forced to interact when they are made co-leads of the planning committee for the Autumn Fest event the town is planning to raise money for town revitalization. Sparks will fly, tempers will flare and fun will commence! ** Received free in exchange for an honest review **

What a wonderful addition to the series. Piper owns and runs the local bakery and was engaged to get married but her finance was cheating on her and so they called off the wedding. She decided that she would concentrate on her business and when she finally got the financial stability to expand into the next building who is too late because Joe Montoya has come back to town and bought the building next door to open a coffee shop. They have a lot of rough times, both as next door neighbors and also family and then they get thrown together to do the Autumn Fest and they come at from different ways and have to work everything out. The are good time, bad times and a lot of support from friends. I can't wait for the 4th book to come out in the Spring and she has lots more characters to write about. So I look forward to see how things go.

An Enjoyable Romance with a Sweet Side Faye writes a sweet and heart-felt story about two people who’ve been badly burned in past relationships. Reluctant to open their hearts again, Piper and Joe dance around each other’s feelings, make mistakes, and push each other away before finally finding their happy ending. Whistle Stop is a charming town and the Poppin’ Fresh Bakery is just the right place to get a fresh pastry and a new lease on life. I like that Piper is not perfect and struggles with her relationship with her mother. This makes her relatable and likeable. This is the first I have read in the series, and I’m eager to read the previous stories to see what I missed.

This was an interesting book with a great story line. The characters have remarkable chemistry as they both must learn to overcome past disappointments. Healing and fighting for what you want is complicated for Piper and Joe as they deal with a growing attraction to one another! Loved this story very much! Gifted a copy for an honest review.

Piper Noble has great plans. She's going to expand her bakery. She'll show Whistle Stop that she's successful. Then they'll forget that her fiancée cheated on her. Joe Montoya shatters her plans when he buys the building next door. Can she get him to change his mind? Joe has come home after a bitter divorce broke him. He will never trust a woman again. Not after his wife cheated and stole from him. I loved watching Piper and Joe fight their attraction. These two people are amazing together. Can they get past the pain and insecurities that hold them back from loving each other. Piper is such a tender hearted and loving woman. She wants to make people happy. I hated that her overbearing mother constantly belittles her. Why is our appearance more important that our goodness? Joe has endured so much trauma. I wanted him to learn to trust again. His father was a brutal man who abused his family. Next his wife stole his trust. Now he wants to keep people at bay. Will he let Piper in? This story touched me. I was pulled into this emotional story. I wanted a HEA. I love coming to Whistle Stop. The people here might have their faults but they will always help those in need. I love seeing characters from previous stories and seeing how they are. This town is welcoming. It makes me wish it was real. Jennifer Faye writes from her heart. I love her writing and I can't wait for the next Whistle Stop Romance. These books are keepers.

Luckily, these wonderful contemporary romances don't necessarily have to be read in order. With smart characters and a charming storyline, I found myself right at home in Whistle Stop. Both Piper and Joe are savvy small business people, bakeries and coffee shops always do well in hometowns. In addition to wanting to grow their own businesses, they find themselves co-chairs of the Autumn Fest, meant to raise money for the revitalization of the town's square and depot. The neighboring businesses lend a perfect setting for their friendship and romance to bloom, plus adding obstacles that the two can't always see. I've only read one other Whistle Stop book, but will find it easy to go back and catch up while waiting for the next story.

I received this book from the author in exchange for a honest review. Another great book in a great series. I love Piper and Joe, they have a great chemistry and are perfect for each other. As I read the book I would get hungry for the cupcakes that are in the book. I love the fact that the characters had to work together to improve the town and in the end they ended up together. I love the way the author writes and describes everything. This book had a lot of emotion in it. I like hat fact that Piper is curvy and that Joe is good with that. I am excited to read the next book in this series.

Piper Noble owns a successful bakery and is looking to expand to the vacant building next door that has been on the market. She finally has enough money put aside to put in an offer to buy the building. When Joe Montoya enters her bakery, he introduces himself as the man who just bought the building that she wanted. She tries every tactic to get him to sell it to her, but he won't budge. He's going to open a coffee shop and is determined to make it a success. They are both stubborn people who have gone through a lot of pain in their respective pasts. There's a town meeting to pick a person to head a fundraising project to help revitilize the town. Piper and Joe both want to head the committee so the town council takes a vote and it's a tie. They've been butting heads and are concerned how they're going to be able to work together to make the fundraiser a success. Once they start working together and listen to each other's ideas, they start to get along. They still butt heads, but they realize each other has some good ideas. During the course of their time together, they develop feelings for each other but since they've both been through heartache in the past, neither wants to admit their true feelings to each other. This book was another winning story by Jennifer Faye. I experienced every emotion and was on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put this book down! I highly recommend this book and this series!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. A Moment…on the Lips is book 3 in A Whistle Stop Romance series. I have to say, I don’t think I will forgive Ms. Faye for making me crave baked goods, specifically cupcakes, all through the book. Seriously, the goodies will call to you! Piper and Joe are both trying to help Whistle Stop (the town) come back through a revitalization, each in their own way. Piper has been in town her whole life while Joe left a long time ago and is returning. Both have big things to work through and it is only when they rely on each other that they can get their HEA. I loved Joe and Piper, although both could use some “will ya please just talk to one another???” help but let’s face it. Without the ‘conflict’, there would be no story. And it is a great story. I love this series and enjoy watching the town come back from the brink. It even comes with an adorable dog. And I want a cupcake. I highly recommend this book and series.

I really enjoyed this story. And, boy, do I wish I could try some of the delicious sounding concoctions Piper sells at her shop. I loved the romance between Joe and Piper. And, spoiler alert: at one point in the book I was sobbing. When you read the book, you'll all know when that moment was. I won't say any more about that particular point. I thought it was great that Joe found the courage to finally share the story of his past with Piper. I would LOVE to find some place like Whistle Stop to live. In the meantime, I'm loving visiting via Ms. Faye's books. Keep them coming, PLEASE!

Loved this one!! It's a great small town romance that will have you laughing and crying in equal parts. With her usual great writing and character development, Ms. Faye has given us another unforgettable story. Piper Noble is the owner of Whistle Stops's Poppin Fresh bakery and has big plans to expand her business. That is until Joe Montoya comes back to town and buys the building next door right out from under her. Try as she might she can't convince him to let her have the space. After a disastrous marriage and divorce, Joe came back to town for a fresh start. He plans on opening a coffee shop and is as determined as Piper to make it a success. When the town elects them to co-chair the fundraising committee they are both convinced they will never be able to work together. What they come to discover is that with a little listening and a lot of work, together they can do anything. This is a good one and I definitely recommend it!
