WW2, 1943. Kurt Müller, fugitive member of the German resistance, is working for British Intelligence in London, when he learns that Gudrun, the love of his life, has been abducted from their home in Ireland. He goes AWOL and accompanies his colleague, Erika, to France. Erika is on a mission for SOE. The two stories diverge before coming together in a climactic ending.
