Full-time RVers, Rip and Rapella Ripple, are headed to Rockdale, Missouri, in their old travel trailer (aka The Chartreuse Caboose) to attend a friend's surprise birthday party. But surprise quickly turns to shock when a party guest is found murdered and Lexie Starr, a friend of the Ripples, is hauled off to jail as suspect number one.
Determined to exonerate Lexie, the Ripples put the Chartreuse Caboose in park and their investigating tactics in drive. But more than a simple frame-up is afoot when the victim's stepfather, who is also the local Police Chief, ignores the Ripple's findings.
"Glidewell succeeds in maintaining a rapidly paced story line that dramatically builds tension, while her tongue-in-cheek sense of humor provides plenty of laugh-out-loud moments." -Booklist on Leave No Stone Unturned

I received a free copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. Clyde "Rip" and Rapella Ripple are a pair of 68-yr old senior citizens who enjoy traveling around the country with a Travel Trailer, affectionately called the Chartreuse Caboose. Rip is a former police officer and Rapella has had her share of different occupations as well. After meeting Lexie and Stone in Wyoming, Rip and Rapella Ripple accept an invitation to stay at the Alexandria Inn and participate in a surprise birthday party for Lexie's daughter, Wendy. Unfortunately, the party does not quite go as planned. At the moment of "Surprise", Lexie is seen standing over the corpse of Trotter Hayes with a knife in her hand. To make matters worse, Trotter was the Police Chief's step-son and Lexie had a very good reason for wanting him dead. To add fuel to the fire, Lexie and Chief Smith have a long history of butting heads and the Chief refuses to even consider other suspects. With Lexie sitting in jail, it is up to Stone, Wendy, and the Ripples to find out who actually killed Trotter and framed Lexie. Given Trotter's history, there is no shortage of suspects. The characters are enjoyable and Rapella has a cliche for every occasion. The ending is guaranteed to surprise you and leave you wanting more adventures from this pair of seniors.
After bringing the Lexie Starr series to an end, Glidewell embarks on a new adventure with Rip and Rapella Ripple. These two down-to-earth seniors are quite endearing and it shows in their long-standing relationship. Rip has the methodical mindset from his days as a former detective. Rapella is frugal, adventurous (what 68 year old do you know who would enroll in a pole dancing class?), and can recite a cliche for almost any occasion. These two are sure to take us on a lot of adventures in the future, and I can't wait. If you are looking for a quick read, a great plot with lovable characters, and laugh-out-loud moments, this is the book for you.
I really liked this book! Fans of the Lexie Starr novels will love this series, Jeanne Glidewell delivers beautifully!
