Overview

Full-time RVers, Rip and Rapella Ripple, are headed to Rockdale, Missouri, in their old travel trailer (aka The Chartreuse Caboose) to attend a friend's surprise birthday party. But surprise quickly turns to shock when a party guest is found murdered and Lexie Starr, a friend of the Ripples, is hauled off to jail as suspect number one.

Determined to exonerate Lexie, the Ripples put the Chartreuse Caboose in park and their investigating tactics in drive. But more than a simple frame-up is afoot when the victim's stepfather, who is also the local Police Chief, ignores the Ripple's findings.

Reviews:
"Glidewell succeeds in maintaining a rapidly paced story line that dramatically builds tension, while her tongue-in-cheek sense of humor provides plenty of laugh-out-loud moments." –Booklist on Leave No Stone Unturned

About the Author

Jeanne Glidewell, lives with her husband, Bob, and chubby cat, Dolly, in Bonner Springs, Kansas, during the warmer months, and Rockport, Texas, the remainder of the year. Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey made landfall on August 25, 2017, in Rockport and their waterfront condo was destroyed. But, fortunately, they were able to rent an apartment from their wonderful Rockport friends, Dave and Cindy Colmer, this winter as their home was undergoing reconstruction.

Besides writing and fishing, Jeanne enjoys wildlife photography and traveling both here and abroad. This year Jeanne and Bob traveled to Australia and New Zealand with friends, Sheila and Randy Davis, in February, and while Bob fished with friends in Canada, Jeanne and her friend, Janet Wright, enjoyed a Caribbean cruise in May. They look forward to returning to their newly rebuilt south Texas home in October 2018.

Jeanne and Bob owned and operated a large RV park in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for twelve years. It was that enjoyable period in her life that inspired her to write a mystery series involving a full-time RVing couple - The Ripple Effect series.

As a 2006 pancreas and kidney transplant recipient, Jeanne now volunteers as a mentor for the Gift of Life of KC program, helping future transplant recipients prepare mentally and emotionally for their upcoming transplants. Please consider the possibility of giving the gift of life by opting to be an organ donor.

Jeanne is the author of a romance/suspense novel, Soul Survivor, six novels and one novella in her NY Times best-selling Lexie Starr cozy mystery series, and four novels in her Ripple Effect cozy mystery series. She is currently writing Marriage and Mayhem, book seven in the Lexie Starr series, and hopes to have it released in the fall of 2018. Following that, she expects to release Ripple Effect book 5, Ripped Apart, in the early spring of 2019.

Most 68 year olds I know are in far better shape than Rapella and Rip. They are also much more technically savvy. Rapella would seem to be overtly prejudice to the point that she is no longer funny but offensive.

I received a free copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. Clyde "Rip" and Rapella Ripple are a pair of 68-yr old senior citizens who enjoy traveling around the country with a Travel Trailer, affectionately called the Chartreuse Caboose. Rip is a former police officer and Rapella has had her share of different occupations as well. After meeting Lexie and Stone in Wyoming, Rip and Rapella Ripple accept an invitation to stay at the Alexandria Inn and participate in a surprise birthday party for Lexie's daughter, Wendy. Unfortunately, the party does not quite go as planned. At the moment of "Surprise", Lexie is seen standing over the corpse of Trotter Hayes with a knife in her hand. To make matters worse, Trotter was the Police Chief's step-son and Lexie had a very good reason for wanting him dead. To add fuel to the fire, Lexie and Chief Smith have a long history of butting heads and the Chief refuses to even consider other suspects. With Lexie sitting in jail, it is up to Stone, Wendy, and the Ripples to find out who actually killed Trotter and framed Lexie. Given Trotter's history, there is no shortage of suspects. The characters are enjoyable and Rapella has a cliche for every occasion. The ending is guaranteed to surprise you and leave you wanting more adventures from this pair of seniors.

After bringing the Lexie Starr series to an end, Glidewell embarks on a new adventure with Rip and Rapella Ripple. These two down-to-earth seniors are quite endearing and it shows in their long-standing relationship. Rip has the methodical mindset from his days as a former detective. Rapella is frugal, adventurous (what 68 year old do you know who would enroll in a pole dancing class?), and can recite a cliche for almost any occasion. These two are sure to take us on a lot of adventures in the future, and I can't wait.  If you are looking for a quick read, a great plot with lovable characters, and laugh-out-loud moments, this is the book for you.
