London - 1879 Kirstin Blair is shocked to receive a letter from Cameron Dunbar, a man who had come very close to destroying her. She has not seen hm in six years and he only knows her as The Procurer, not her real name. It has been difficult for her not to think about him and how she would love to see him again, before once again putting him in the back of her mind. As The Procurer, she dresses completely in black. A mysterious woman, she deftly makes impossible things happen. Wondering if he remembers the real woman she is, she is ready to meet with him to how she can help him in locating his half sister’s daughter, Philippa, and her maid, Jeannie, both who simply disappeared. Kirstin and Cameron first met six years ago when they were both traveling on a coach. When the conveyance hit a rut requiring work to fix it, the passengers decided to stay overnight at a nearby inn. That was when the two of them shared a night of passion and then went their separate ways. Now, both of them have been successful in life’s endeavors and Kirstin wants to be the one to help Cameron. Thus, they stay in separate rooms in a hotel in London meeting to decide how they will go about finding these two young women. Using different disguises, they do their sleuthing. Kirstin is hiding a deep secret from Cameron and has vowed never to reveal it to him. Can the attraction that they once found together spark again? This is the last of The Procurer stories which have been cleverly written. I enjoyed this story most of all. In one of the disguises, Cameron poses and the Reverent Mr. Collins. I laughed out loud when he said grace. (You have to read the book to catch the humor.) Well done, Marguerite Kaye! Copy provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
