About the Author

LC Whitehouse has been imagining fantasy worlds since childhood when she would sculpt tiny queens and angels out of modeling clay. She is a devoted minimalist and sometimes feels like the only girl on bookstagram without a trophy shelf.

Wow, I knew this book was going to be good but I underestimated how good it really was going to be! ��
I absolutely loved this book!
The foreshadowing was great, the plot was fabulous, and all the characters had so much depth.
One of my favorite things about fantasy books is the new and interesting world, and this one hit it out of the park!
Fascinating and just different without being too complicated or overwhelming.
The ending really keyed me up without hanging me over a cliff.

This book....WAS SOO GOOD!

It has a kind of magic system I have NEVER read mixed with a slow burn he falls first romance (which we all know that I'm obsessed with) ����

Alora is feisty and snarky and bad ass.
Taran is protective and broody and strong.

And I stg I fell in love with both of them throughout this book.

This book is *exactly* what readers mean when they say they want a romantasy read:
This story was easy to read, had accessible worldbuilding, relatable characters, and was gloriously crushable.
Only two chapters in, I was hooked, as there was already a focus on friendship, food, and garments with pockets.
I knew at that point that it was going to be a solid read.
If you love an MMC in denial, heist vibes, found family, and forbidden romance, this is the book for you.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I adored this book. I had such a hard time putting it down.
The story was intriguing, it was a world I haven't experienced before, and the characters were all so believable and I instantly fell in love with them.
This has for sure been one of my top reads this year so far.
And to be quite honest, I liked it infinitely more than Onyx Storm.
If this book doesn't become an instant hit, I will be SHOCKED. I CANNOT WAIT to read the next books!!!!!

Omg omg omg OMG
This is seriously the best slow burn romantasy I have read in MONTHS, with chemistry through the freaking roof.
I signed up for the arc at "beauty and the beast retelling" but HOLY MOSES I was not PREPARED for how imaginative and original the story would be.
This is seriously the coolest take on a beauty and the beast story I could ever have hoped for.
I was getting so discouraged about ever finding a really good romantasy again and this one was truly stunning.
