At eighteen, Moreina di Bianco is a young healer who believes in medicine, not magic, even while possessing a second sight she can't fully explain. So when the Faranzine Talisman chooses Reina to reawaken an ancient magic and end a war, she must reconcile her beliefs, unlock the talisman’s secrets, and harness the magic within.
Reluctant to accept help, Reina agrees to allow two determined escorts to accompany her on her journey for truth, but each comes with a mysterious past of his own. Her estranged childhood friend, Quinn D’Arturio, left their village years ago and only recently returned, harboring dark secrets behind a solemn exterior. And despite his status as a perfect stranger, a dashing captain by the name of Niles Ingram is quick to fight by Reina’s side at whatever the cost. That someone she’s only just met would give his life for hers is a sobering realization of the ever-present danger Reina has jumped into.
There’s just one problem with Reina’s two companions. They, too, are featured in the talisman's prophecy—as potential suitors. But what woman wants a suitor, let alone two, when she’s tasked with defeating a usurping general, ending a war, finding the true king, and rightfully seating him on the throne?

This book is captivating from page one!! The characters are well-developed and intriguing. Reina is especially relatable, as she embarks on an exhilarating adventure to find the talisman and save the kingdom. The use of vivid imagery and descriptive text, helps to draw you into the story. As the plot thickens, you feel compelled to keep turning the page to see what happens next. The end does not disappoint either. My only warning would be to make sure you have nowhere to go the next day, as you will likely stay up way too late reading this book. I can’t wait to see what this author comes out with next!
I’ve known L since we were kids. Wonderful person and this proves that she is also an amazing writer. I wasn’t able to put it down and cannot wait for the next one.
Don’t wait to read A Thousand Years To Wait. It is a tapestry of a story with threads of adventure, romance and magic weaving through it. The lead character, Moreina, is satisfied with her life as a healer. In fact she revels in it, having followed her mother’s footsteps. Young as she is, her town has accepted her exceptional abilities. She did not ask to be thrust into the conflict that comes closer to her home each day. But that is her fate. She is a strong young woman, who likes to think for herself. She has no desire to be coddled by the escorts she has been assigned. And what escorts they are, like night and day-one darkly handsome and the other blonde and shining. I enjoyed the ride with Reina, watching her work her way through each new problem. She is a force to be dealt with. I highly recommend this book. So glad it's part of a trilogy. I'm looking for more!
The first of a new trilogy (oh, I can't wait to read the next one), this story takes us on a journey right from the beginning. 18-year-old Reina, a healer, is reluctant to believe in her magical abilities; she's pragmatic, self-reliant, a bit stubborn, likes her simple life, and has always taken care of herself since her mother's death. She heals through medicine, not some magical force. Or does she? As she slowly unlocks her potential, she quickly learns who is friend and who is foe on this journey to fulfill a thousand-year-old prophecy. She slowly concedes to the possibility that she may be the key to ending war, defeating a general, and finding the true heir to the throne. Does she have it in her? You'll have to read and see. Full of twists, action, and amazing world-building, this book was a page-turner and hard to put down. I highly recommend it for those who enjoy a bit of fantasy, a smidgen or romance, and even those (like me) who adore threads of the medieval. Great book!
