A Threefold Cord of Black History Poems & Nuggets
Bay Saint Louis, MS is the place of my birth
Reflecting back, it was there I began my search
A place rarely heard of, down on the Gulf Coast
It’s a quaint little town, of which I’m proud to boast
My Mom and Dad had 16 children, they laid a firm foundation
The lifestyle they lived before us, will always be my inspiration
When I was 20 years old, within three months apart, my parents were deceased
I got through it because I was taught, to keep my mind on Jesus for perfect peace
I retired from the United States Navy in two thousand two
In 2012 I earned my Associate’s Degree from Le Cordon Bleu
Someone said to me, you’re in your fifties, why bother now
I don’t deal in negativity, I simply said” Hallelujah anyhow”
Although at times I wondered, if my writing would ever be recognized
Zechariah 4:10 says of small things beginning, do not despise
This is my first published book and regardless of the outcome
I will continue to write and not give up, I refuse to succumb
I also write gospel and children songs and inspirational skits
Anything of a positive and uplifting nature, I am down with it
I believe God blessed me with this gift, to use, not to save
When I stand before him I want to say I used what you gave
I know God is no respecter of person, with me he’s not done
I believe my latter days will be greater than any former one
I must continue on my journey and not become upstaged
I won’t let fear or doubt stop me, and certainly not age
God promised to never forsake me or leave me alone
I bear witness to his faithfulness; I’m Mable Williams Jones
All art work created by my nephew, Gerald D. Williams Jr.
