New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden heats up the holidays with...A VAMPIRE'S CHRISTMAS CAROL.

This holiday season has bite.

Ben Prescott hates Christmas--he's a vampire, and to him, there's certainly nothing jolly about the holiday season. While the humans are running around being merry, he's hunting in the shadows. Ben plans to spend the holidays his way...by stalking deadly prey.

But fate has other plans for Ben.

Three visitors are coming Ben's way...A demon who will force Ben to face his past, a ghost who will show Ben the present he could have, and a shifter who will reveal the darkness that waits in Ben's future. Unless Ben can change his ways, he may just turn into a real monster, one who can't be saved by anyone or anything.

'Tis the season...to be undead.

Ben's redemption rests in the hands of the one woman he loved and lost--Simone Laurent. If Ben is going to have a chance at being more than just the beast in the darkness, he has to prove himself to the lovely Simone. A very hard task, considering that, once upon a Christmas Eve, Simone died in Ben's arms...

Warning: This book features one very tortured vampire, a sexy ghost from his past, and hot scenes designed to melt the winter snow. Plenty of action, adult situations, and steamy times are ahead. Happy holidays!

Nice twist on an old tale... What do you get when a demon, an angel, and a panther shifter gang up magically against a vampire? You get quite a dark edgy paranormal twist of the classic Christmas story which this reader found a lot more enjoyable than the original version, full of suspense and marked by the deep love of two souls.  This work is novella length, short and sweet, sexy at times, with heartbreaking emotions. Ben Prescott lost everything the night he was going to ask the woman he loved to marry him for on that Christmas night he was turned into a vampire and he watched the woman he loved die in his arms. Since then, for the past ten years, he has skirted the path of darkness, falling deeper and deeper into its clutches but there were things he was not aware of about the woman he loved and the time has come for his chance at redemption. Simone Laurent broke the rules, a guardian angel who fell in love with her charge. She has put into play a plan to save Ben's soul and if it works it will not only be his soul that is saved. She will sacrifice everything to give him the chance for she truly loves him and believes in him.

Cynthia Eden is my author-of-the-year for 2013 (even if she’s been writing for much longer). I go on asking for her publications when they are available (while crossing my fingers that I’ll like the novel). A Vampire’s Christmas Carol didn’t deceive my expectations. The title is a stand-alone (but I found potential in two secondary male characters) and it’s a Christmas romance, a theme I like very much. The vampire hero lost his true love one year before and to kill time, because he is depressed, he decided to become a kind of vigilante of the shadows while feeding, in a kind of killing two birds with one stone act. It’s really difficult to make a review for this novel because the author keeps several suspenses on tenterhooks and I don’t want to spoil any of them. And giving you only a little detail would reveal too much... So I’ll just tell you that I loved this sweet, romantic, moving story full of hope. In spite of the feeling the reader can have, there is only one theme in this novel and it has nothing to do with hunting down baddies but everything to do with the love we feel for our true love and how we try to live, or rather survive, after his/her disappearance. As a matter of fact, all the past, present, and future actions of our heroes turn around their deep feelings for each other. The reader closes the book without a single doubt about their love. What more could we ask for? To conclude, an opus not to miss and where the reader will be surprised.

This book was my first holiday read for 2018. It’s super short, which can be a good thing or bad thing. Good because a finished book is great and if I can read it faster, then yay! Bad because it’s short and sometimes a reader just needs more, you know, especially when there are vampires, which is one of my weaknesses. Meet Ben Prescott, vampire and hater of Christmas. What’s there to love when you are undead, not by choice, and the woman of your dreams is dead-dead? No hanging of stockings or sipping of the Christmas cheer for our Ben. Instead, he is out hunting human prey. The evil human variety are his choice of prey and ridding the world of evil people should be a good thing, but unfortunately for Ben, he is on a path of self-destruction which will turn him into a monster incapable of knowing or doing the right thing. Ben is given the opportunity to choose a different path when he is visited by three paranormal beings that are on a mission to show Ben the light by showing him what awaits him if he stays on his present course. I love tortured characters and vampires are my favorite. They hold all the trump cards when it comes to self-loathing, pain, misery and torturing themselves. I also love stories about redemption and when a tortured character finds redemption, it is so satisfying. Ben is a great character. His mortality was taken from him against his will and he lost not only his life, but the love of his life. Can we say he’s a little bitter? Yes, we can. Who wouldn’t be? He shuts himself away from everyone and everything and focuses on hunting people who deserve to be hunted. This lifestyle has accomplished what he intended but now Ben needs a new path before he becomes the evil that he has been hunting. Ben and Simone’s chemistry is white-hot and I felt so bad for these two that they have had to suffer so much heartbreak and anguish not of their choosing. I really wanted more time with Ben and Simone to learn about their beginning and stick around for the after to see how they grow and build their lives together. I recommend this book to fans of paranormal romances and fans who enjoy Christmas themes and are looking for something a little different to add to their holiday cheer reading list. Christmas is the season for love and joy and nobody deserves love and joy more than Ben and Simone.

Packed with emotion *Book source ~ A review copy was provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. For ten long years Ben Prescott has been a monster who hunts monsters. Turned into a vampire on Christmas Eve and left to figure things out on his own he killed the one person he loved, Simone Laurent. Now, he hunts those who prey on the innocent. But he’s about to make a terrible mistake and his eternal soul rests in the balance. When he’s visited by three supernatural beings, he needs to not just listen, but really hear what they are saying and change his path or he’ll be hitching a ride on the Hellbound train. Maybe he won’t care about his own destiny, but what about Simone’s? A heart-wrenching Christmas story where, instead of three ghosts, Ben has three supernatural beings visit him to try and get him to see that he’s headed straight for Hell, no hand basket in sight. A demon, a ghost and a shifter (sounds like the beginning of a bad joke) do their best with the hour they have with him, but Ben is such a hard case. In fact, I wanted to beat his head in a bit just because he was being so willfully blind. How much more proof did he need by the time the shifter showed up anyway? Yeesh! Anyway, other than that, this may be a short read, but it’s got a lot of emotion packed into it. If you like your Christmas stories with some paranormal goodness (especially when it’s a retelling) then I recommend picking this one up.

As posted on The Smutty Kitty reviewed by KittyKelly 3 out of 5 Licks Yes I am aware that it is not Christmas, but I have never been bothered with reading holiday themed books any time of year. I really love Cynthia Eden so I was excited to read this one. For a shorter story she really packed in the emotion. My heart was breaking for Ben and I found myself almost crying a few times. Adding a paranormal twist to a classic Christmas tale is just the kind of thing to spruce up this old tale. While this book didn't grab me and hold me hostage, I did enjoy the story. I'd really like to read more about the other characters as well. Maybe Ms. Eden will give us more in another book.
