Brave soldiers recovering from deployments find women they love and must protect them from danger. Throw in big trained working dogs and you have books filled with danger, suspense, & sizzling romance. Great series. Waiting anxiously for book four.

I ended up stopping at pg. 124 around 38% in. This is the first time I've read Ms. Drake and a book in the True Heroes series. Their are previous characters around, ones that are couples now and friends to our leads, and so I'm missing out on the connections. I don't feel the camaraderie or friendships like I might if I read the books in order. As for Absolute Trust everything feels slow. The plot is slow and the romance is nonexistent. Even with them both having torches for each other since high school. I'm just not feeling the the chemistry and romance. Up to this point no action has happened. We've had a car booming and an attempted apartment burglary/try to kill our heroine, but it wasn't action associated, just things that happened to our leads, then we move on. I'm not sure if I'll try reading this again. I do have book one on request at my library and maybe I'll pick up Absolute Trust again after I try out the previous books published.

All three books in this series were outstanding. This, the final book was the best of the best. A great series.

Absolute Trust is absolutely an incredible read! The characters are well developed and engaging all the way down to the heroic working dogs. Piper J. Drake is excellent at creating a strong cast of characters and giving the dogs like Hadyn a strong presence in the story. One thing about a series like the True Heroes series is that even if you haven't read the previous novels, the current release is like a catch me up. Quick reminders are spaced throughout the novel while still entertaining a whole new adventure. This particular adventure focuses on Brandon Forte, who owns a facility for the rehabilitation of service dogs, and Sophie Kim the girl who's always there for him. While Sophie seems inclined to wait for a man she doesn't do so sitting around. She's an accountant with a passion for baking and a soft spot for animals. So it comes as a surprise when her car explodes from an IED. Brandon makes it a personal mission to keep Sophie safe and find out why she was targeted. This is a romantic thriller through and through. Readers never know what danger is waiting around the corner for the main characters as they swim through the depths of their connection. Sophie and Brandon are the high school sweethearts that never were, but they have an opportunity to work out what they truly mean to each other. Absolute Trust is a versatile read that will appeal to many types of readers. Romantics and dog lovers alike, don't miss out on this special read from Piper J. Drake! *ARC provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

There were many things about this book that I really liked, but there was just something between the hero and heroine that was missing for me. That being said, the story itself was engaging, the writing was great, and the entire set of characters really worked for me. The whole service dog story line was awesome and I loved learning about the animals and the work that was happening at Hope's Crossing Kennels. I also loved that Sophie, the heroine, was self-sufficient and capable, but also wasn't TSTL. And of course Haydn and Sophie's kitty totally steal the show! I haven't read the previous books in the series, so I'm not sure if I might be missing some dynamic between Brandon and Sophie. I could feel the deep friendship between the two characters, but the romance for me was just a bit off. There is some reference to some romance in their high school past, but I never got a good feel for the connection that was supposed to be between these two, which made the romance part not quite work for me - which surprised me since I am a huge fan of the second chance and friends to lovers tropes. (I did love that Sophie finally calls Brandon out - one of my favorite parts as well as the fact that once these two were all in...they were all in!) I'm intrigued enough about this series to go back and read the first two in the series - we get to meet the characters from those books and as I already said, the entire cast seems great...and I'm also thinking that there may be something in those books that might help with the romance part in this one. So I would definitely recommend checking this out, but maybe starting with the first in this series might be best.

I love this series! Finally we have Brandon and Sophie's story--I feel like we've been waiting forever for it. Totally worth it, though. ;) Brandon and Sophie has a past--they've known each other since they were children, and were each others' firsts--until Brandon left for the military after graduation without a word to Sophie before he left. Now it's years later, he's back and has started Hope's Crossing Kennels, and Sophie's made herself a part of the business since the start as part time accountant and weekend baker of treats. And as always, piner-after-of-Brandon, who's got her firmly in the friend zone...except in his thoughts, which are a little less friendly and a little more x-rated. But suddenly Sophie's in danger--is it Brandon's fault? Or has something in her life triggered it?--and Brandon and his latest project, German Shepherd Hadyn, are on the job, determined to keep her safe. Can he keep his distance and safe her life? (Of course not! What would be the fun in that?) Romantic suspense, hot ex-military guys, dogs, and this time, a cat--really, it's like Christmas has come early! Now that all three of the men of Hope's Crossing Kennels have found their HEAs, here's hoping Ms. Drake has a new and even more exciting series in store for us :) Rating: 4 stars / A- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

ABSOLUTE TRUST is the third installment in Piper J. Drake’s contemporary, adult TRUE HEROES romantic, suspense series. This is US Army veteran Brandon Forte, and accountant Sophie Kim’s story line. ABSOLUTE TRUST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspective (Brandon and Sophie) ABSOLUTE TRUST is a friends to lovers/ second chance story line. Years earlier Brandon walked out of Sophie’s life without explanation only to return hoping to renew their friendship and trust. Brandon owns and works at Hope’s Crossing Kennel retraining military and combat dogs whose previous service have left the canine companions without direction, or suffering from the loss of a previous partner. When Sophie is targeted by an unknown source, Brandon takes responsibility for the woman that he has never stopped loving-a woman whose life he will protect with his own. What ensues is the rekindling of a friendship that turns to love as Brandon and his team struggle to stay one step ahead of the people trying to destroy Sophie’s life. The relationship between Brandon and Sophie is rife with tangible sexual attraction but an attraction that neither one is willing to admit. Brandon broke Sophie’s heart years earlier, and our heroine battles with her desire for a man who is unwilling to take their friendship to the next level. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of graphic, erotic language or text. All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting roles: David Cruz and Lyn Jones (Extreme Honor #1); Alex Rojas and Elisa Hall (Ultimate Courage #2). We are introduced to police officer Kymani Graves; Army veteran Raul Sa who currently works for a private military contract organization; as well as a Haydn, a former, military dog who lost not only his previous controller but his front leg as well. The world building continues to focus on the Hope’s Crossing Kennel, and the work of the members training former military dogs for civilian life, as well as the potential for dogs working with soldiers suffering from PTSD. ABSOLUTE TRUST focuses on the threats against, and attempts on Sophie Kim’s life; and the search for the people responsible and why, as well as the revelation behind the reason Brandon walked away from the woman that he loved. ABSOLUTE TRUST is a romantic suspense story with a little bit of military background and history. The premise is spirited and gripping; the characters are colorful and animated; the romance is heartwarming and inspiring. With the addition of combat experienced military dogs the warm fuzzies add to the romantic overtone.

(While it isn’t required to read all of the stories in this series, it does help to understand how the characters relate to each other and all the trouble they’ve managed to get themselves into this past year :) ) I was super thrilled to see Drake hit it out of the park again – delivering a story full of danger, emotion, humor and thrills. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but I felt like there was a bit of a misstep in the last one when it came to her hero. Here, though, everything comes together just perfectly. The friendship between Sophie and Brandon is just awesome, but returning readers know that they are both hiding deeper feelings. We just aren’t sure why they are fighting it. And with excitement and danger coming at the start, we don’t have long for things to come to a head. (I don’t think many people will be surprised by the “who” in the who-done-it part, but Drake ties everything together very well and keeps things engaging.) The pacing is done skillfully too – mixing the relationship development with the suspense portion but not cheating either of them. Drake also does a great job of fleshing out the characters we’ve gotten glimpses of in the first two books and explaining why they’ve never done anything about their obvious attraction. All of it makes sense and keeps you glued to the page until you can make sure that they make it out of their troubles (both physical and emotional), getting a HEA together that they deserve. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. In the third installment of the True Heroes series, we finally get Brandon Forte’s story. We know Brandon as the guy that started Hope’s Crossing Kennels from the previous two books, but now we learn the back story of what made him who he is today. A good continuation with a good bit of intrigue, some adorable animals, and a sexy connection. Sophie Kim has been in love with Brandon Forte since back in high school, but he left her behind to go conquer the world without even saying goodbye. When he left the service and opened a dog training business back in their hometown, Sophie naturally stepped back into his life as a great friend. Lucky for her, she did, because he’s in the right place at the right time when she becomes the target of some dangerous men! Brandon and his business have been targeted by some bad organizations in the past, and now those connections just might be after Sophie! He will do anything to keep her safe!

GREAT STORY As with the earlier books in this series I absolutely loved this story! My favorite so far. I love the relationship between Sophie and Brandon Forte. Nothing quite like a lifelong friendship. I also adore the animals in these stories. So smart and brave. Anytime I read one of these True Hero books by Piper J Drake, I feel like I'm holding my breathe until the end. So exciting and very enjoyable.

Piper J. Drake’s Absolute Trust is an interesting, sexy and different read. If you love dogs, you will love this book, because a German Shepherd named Haydn plays a prominent secondary character. Our hero Brandon Forte is a veteran and has returned home to start a facility to train and place military service dogs. He’s also returned to be close to his best friend Sophie Kim - who he secretly loves. They’re very good friends but both secretly have feelings for the other. There’s a secret between them that has kept them apart for years, and they are forced to confront their feelings and their secrets when Sophie is threatened - not a little threat but a plant-a-bomb-in-your-car kind of threat - and Brandon vows to keep her safe. Why is Absolute Trust different? As I mentioned, Haydn the dog plays a key role and his life in and out of the military as a service dog is explored. It's different and interesting, and you will especially love it if you love animals. The other reason Absolute Trust is off the beaten romance path - the heroine Sophie is a Korean-American. It is so nice to see other ethnicities in romance novels! Absolute Trust is a action packed, sweet and fun story. ✦Review: Absolute Trust (True Heroes) by Piper J. Drake Publication Date: December 20, 2016 Genre: Romantic Suspense/ Contemporary Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna Rated 4.5 Stars What a fun wild ride with Brandon and Sophie. The story was fast paced and exciting, while still leaving plenty of time for them to rekindle their old relationship. I liked them both even though they each did or felt something hairbrained. Brandon held on to something said to him in his teens, when he should have let that go now that he was an adult. Then Sophie was too blasé after something that happened. Those two things made me pause. It did not detract from the story though. Sexy, scary and a real page-turner. *Review copy provided Forever Romance in exchange for an honest review. ~*~*~*~

Brandon Forte is a man on a mission to help his fellow soldiers, and the K-9's who supported them in battle by opening a facility in his hometown that helps their beloved K-9's return to civilian life. The other part of his mission is to reunite with the girl he left behind the day he shipped off to serve his country, the beautiful Sophie Kim. They have always just been friends, but Brandon realized that he wants more than that, now he just has to hope she feels the same way... The day that Brandon shipped off to serve his country without so much as a goodbye he broke Sophie Kim's heart, and it has taken her a long time to get over him, but now that he is back in town to stay she has to face all those long buried feelings and what if's. Since he has been home they have rekindled their friendship, but when things in Kim's life take a dangerous turn, Brandon steps in to be her protector...and from there the sparks start to fly! This is my second visit to the series, and I have to say I enjoyed this trip just as much as the first, Ms. Drake has a special way of blending toe curling romance and thrilling mystery seamlessly and giving readers a perfectly balanced read. Definitely one of the best reads I have had the pleasure of diving into in a while...they kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through!! Highly recommend this series, it's sure to satisfy!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Absolute Trust is a second chance romantic suspense that will absolutely charm you. I love Sophie. She is smart and sweet and not perfect but she gives her best. Haydn, a German Shepherd Dog, like Brandon is broken but healing. Brandon annoyed me on occasion but he took care of Sophie and finally got his head out his tail. Now if the can only stay alive long enough to enjoy it. Note you will need a box of tissues for this one.
