Ace is saving lives and mending hearts.......

Anthony "Ace" Bailey

I'm not a rules kinda guy

Department Policy? Kinda sucks, but I do what I have to for the job that I love.
Playing it safe? Not my thing.
Married? No big deal when I know she's unhappy and scared.

I'm one of those guys – a sniper in the military, a little bit of an adrenaline junkie, and a member of the Moonshine Task Force. I've lived through some shit.

My gut has never failed me. It's my sixth-sense. Warning me of a gunshot coming my way, of a traffic stop being potentially deadly, or the tingling in the back of my neck when I go to sleep telling me I'll be woken up by a call in the middle of the night. My gut has always kept me honest.

Like the day I walked into The Café and saw the new waitress. There was a ring on her left hand, but I didn't care. One look in her eyes told me everything I needed to know. Her marriage wasn't one made of love and respect. It was one made of fear and doubt.

It's why I ignored that ring, why I arrested her husband, and the reason I'm willing to take my time. Patience is a virtue, and with this woman, I have it in spades.

Violet Miller

Meeting Anthony Bailey changed my life. He did things that no one else has ever done for me.

Feeling safe? Never happened before.
Feeling wanted? It's been years.
Being independent? I'm learning.

It's foreign, not having someone question my every move, being able to eat what I want for dinner, and sitting out on my front porch talking to Anthony every night while we share a couple beers.

I try to tell myself he's just being nice; that he's doing his job and working within the community. The problem? The night he takes the kiss we both want, everything changes, and I can no longer deny what I feel. But it doesn't stop me from trying – and I learn quickly that Ace knows me better than anyone else ever has – including myself.

All I can do is hang on, as he takes me on the scariest journey of my life. The one that bends us until we almost break, and ends with a happily ever after I never thought I would get.

ACE includes the wedding of a beloved couple, an appearance by Reaper, and the continuation of EVERYONE falling in love with Caleb!

Ace has always been that one night stand kinda guy, until he walks into The Cafe one day and spies the new waitress, Violet. Even though Violet has a wedding ring on, Ace can see the sadness and misery in her eyes and all Ace wants to do is put a smile on her face. When Violet's husband goes to jail for abuse, Ace finally has his chance and now he wants so much more than to just put a smile on her face. He will wait for her as long as it takes. You could feel Violet's pain and not wanting to move ahead too quickly. And you could just swoon over Ace being the very patient gentleman. You could feel the love between them and you just wanted Violet to take that next step because you know that Ace would be perfect for her. Even though I found this story to move very slow, it had a good story line. I like that there was a little side story about Caleb ... getting you prepared for Caleb's dad's story in the next book. I graciously received an ARC copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

This is the fourth book in the Moonshine Task Force and this has been my much anticipated couple of Violet and Anthony (Ace). I met them in the previous book Havoc and couldn’t wait to get their story. Violet is an abused wife and she meets Ace at the diner where she waitresses. He knew when he first saw her that he wanted to be the man to make her happy and on that fateful day her husband came in the diner on a rampage and beat her badly, Ace was the officer that arrested her husband and made it possible for Violet to finally have a life. Ace and Violet are attracted to each other but don’t act on it. Violet wants to be divorced before she takes their friendship to the next level. Ace is patient and takes the relationship at Violets pace and he helps her heal. He is there to provide the safe haven of friendship and to give her the support she needs to heal. I loved their characters and Ace is just the man to bring out the woman that Violet once was. After years of being downtrodden by her abusive husband, Ace was the risk taker, the adrenaline junkie that shows Violet that with him, it’s safe to take risks. This is a slow burn romance and I enjoyed the journey of watching them fall in love. It was great to have the families of the task force be there to provide love and support for Violet and to have her best friend be married to one of Ace’s buddies. It really provided that connection for the characters. I love the dual POV as it provided great direction, but I wish I would have a little more background on Ace. He is such a great guy that I wanted more. The story flowed well and there is a lot going on with our current characters as well as previous characters interwoven into the current story. There are some time jumps, which don’t bother me and were handled smoothly. The only down side for me is felt the ending was a little quick after the long build up of the story. This is a great addition to this series and with the sneak peek at the end, I can’t wait for Menace and Karina’s story.

Okay Renegade, you and Ace are going to share the role of favourite hero because damn! Ace has stolen a piece of my heart. Their journey made me cry, a lot. I'm sat here with tears for the journey they went through and the pain they had to endure to get their happy. I'm so glad I found your books and I know I'm a soppy fangirl so you can ignore this, but as a survivor of abuse, this story of healing was something I didn't even realise I needed. Violet suffered at the hands of her husband and due to that she thought she wouldn’t be able to trust again. These feelings hit home for me, I have so much emotions bubbling inside of me because it did bring back flashbacks, I only wish I had my own Ace then but this is why he has stolen a piece of my heart, he truly made me realise that there are good men out there and that no matter what, it was never her fault for what her husband did. I adore their connection, it’s a rare one and one I’m so glad I got to read. Violet slowly lets Ace in and I do like how we got to see everything that happened in the past and how they coped and survived together. That was the most important thing for me. That they were a team and didn’t let the past beat them. This book is not about love really, it’s more about healing and that is what this book should be about. Every single dark day ends and a new morning dawns, that’s the message I’m taking from this book. It’s a powerful story and I’m truly glad I discovered Laramie. 5 stars!

I love the men of the Moonshine Task Force. They’re strong when all strength has run out and they’re noble when it’s the most difficult thing to do. I loved watching the care that Ace takes with Violet to show her that she’s special and important. And I really appreciated that Violet wanted to take her time to both heal and finalize her divorce before committing to anything deeper than a friendship with him. I adore watching this ‘family’ and getting the chance to catch up with the couples we’ve read previously. After reading the teaser for Mason’s book, and yelling “you can’t leave me there!” at my reader, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
