In Active Gods, Michael J. Henry examines what it means to be both the parent and the son, and his poems reveal threads between these dual identities in small, specific moments: the shared experience of growing up, losing out, escaping, and then resolving to try again. With imagery that is both familiar and personal, Active Gods creates a world where memories bubble up to themselves known, however "crudely made."
