He survived a mysterious mission more horrible than the mind can imagine; only she can break through the trauma and get him to talk. But if she succeeds, they both may not survive.

Dr. Sara West knows only that her high-security military patient goes by the name "Joe," that he's in a catatonic state and can only repeat the code words, "I wept," and that his post-traumatic stress disorder is a result of his last mission as a Shadow Watcher-a spy who spies on other spies. Her brother-in-law was also a Shadow Watcher. He committed suicide in the same sinister military facility where Joe, and other military men like him, are now in treatment. Sara wants to learn what caused her sister's unshakable husband to kill himself and, in the process, to heal Joe, a compelling man who wins her love. But the secrets inside him reveal a shocking truth. One she isn't sure they can overcome.

3.5 stars Acts of Honor is an enjoyable thriller-mystery. It is light on the romance and steam. The author leaves clues and possibilities, which may or may not lead to the correct answers. At times, the mystery is engaging and disappointing. My main concern was how the author would address Sara falling in love with a patient, which is unethical in the real world. Ms. Hinze does a very good job addressing this issue. Sara does indeed struggle with her feelings for ‘Joe’ in a realistic way. Her struggles with her inappropriate feelings are sincerely conveyed. The resolution for Joe and Sara is too simple. For all the build-up and angst I had expected something to match the long build-up. What followed between the hero and heroine will underwhelm romance fans and/or fans of steamy love scenes. This book is a thriller similar to Catherine Coulter’s FBI Thriller series. It has the typical twist and turns. Sara is unsure whom to trust as she is thrown into a situation without any preparation. If only the author would have withheld some details it would have allowed more tension to build, in my opinion. Overall, Acts of Honor is an entertaining read for those in the mood for some mystery and thrills. [This book is courtesy of BelleBooks, Inc. via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.]

Fantastic mystery! Secret military hospital. Secret military lab with secret military experiments. Dr. Sara West wants answers and she will do just about anything to get them include put her life in danger. Who can she trust? A wonderful mystery. It got a little preachy at times but not too bad. Acts of Honor kept me guessing right to the very end. I will be recommending this one to my friends.
