All Aboard the Ark by Zondervan is an incredibly cute book! I absolutely love the beautiful water color illustrations throughout the book as well as the simple rhyming. My daughter adore this book and have been asking to read it at bedtime because they love seeing all the animals and hearing the animals point of view. I think hearing this story from the animals point of view is incredibly unique but also a wonderful way to tell this story. This would make a terrific gift for little ones this Easter! My grandmother would tell me the story of “Noah’s Ark” over and over again. I never seemed to get old. It has animals of every shape and size and most importantly it reminds us just how much God loves and protects us. I’ve now passed this story on to my children and they love it just as much as I do! “All Aboard the Ark” is a beautiful retelling of the the story of “Noah’s Ark” from the point of view of the animals aboard the ark. It is a board book with adorable water colour illustrations. Young children will enjoy the whimsy of each page. The font is large and easily read by young readers. I really enjoy the progression of the book. It builds in excitement until we get close to the end, where it starts to slow down. The last page is helps prepare your little one for sleep. The book doesn’t go into any great depth of the story of the flood. It doesn’t tell why God flooded the earth nor does it even mention Noah’s name. While these are very important details, toddlers don’t always grasp the importance of these details. The most important message in “All Aboard the Ark” is stated very simply and very clearly. “We’re grateful for all living things. And that we’re sheltered by God’s wings.” The book reminds us that God will be there for us, during the good times and bad. Just like the animals were safe inside the ark during the storm, God is there with us keeping us safe during our bad times. When we are having fun with our friends, God is still there with us, watching over us. My children can easily imagine being protected under God’s wings, just like the baby birds are sheltered by their mother’s wings. *Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of “All Aboard the Ark” in exchange for my review.
